TININTAHAN ng Department of Energy (DOE) at National Irrigation Administration (NIA) ang isang memorandum of agreement na makapagbibigay ng mas malawak na access sa renewable energy sa bansa.
Sinabi ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO), sa ilalim ng kasunduan, gagamitin ng DOE ang “existing and under construction NIA irrigation facilities” kabilang na ang mga lugar na identified at nakalista para sa future irrigation development projects, para sa public consumption nang walang nakakompromisong operasyon.
Ang kasunduan ay nilagdaan ni Undersecretary Sharon Garin and Director Marissa Cerezo para sa DOE at Engr. Eduardo Eddie Guillen para naman sa NIA, present naman si Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Hubert Dominic Guevara.
“The agreement between DOE and NIA signified a crucial step forward in the pursuit of water security and sustainable resource management, which is aligned with the goals outlined in Executive Order No. 22, series of 2023,” ang nakasaad sa kalatas ng PCO.
Sa pamamagitan pa rin ng kasunduan, gagawin namang pormal ng dalawang ahensiya ang kanilang partnership para palakasin ang countrywide approach sa pag-develop ng renewable energy resources alinsunod sa nilalayon ng bansa na makalikha ng 35% ng kuryente mula sa renewable energy sources sa taong 2030 at 50% naman sa 2040.
“As part of the strategic initiative, NIA’s irrigation water will not only help the agency to expand economically and generate additional fund for the operation and maintenance of its irrigation facilities while allowing the DOE to provide the public with better access to clean, reasonably priced energy source,” ayon sa PCO.
