‘Nutribun’ feeding program, palalakasin

NAIS ni Senador Imee Marcos na palakasin ang ‘Nutribun Feeding Program’ sa harap ng mga programang pang-nutrisyon ng gobyerno na umano’y kulang sa sustansya.

Sinabi ito ni Marcos kasabay ng pagdiriwang nitong nakaraang linggo ng ika-105 kaarawan ng kanyang ama na si dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Sr. na nagsimula ng Nutribun Feeding program noong dekada 70.

Ayon sa Senador, lalo pang lumalala ang krisis sa pagkain sa buong mundo at dumarami ang bansot na bata. Noong dekada 70 umano ng simulan ng kanyang ama ang programa ay maraming bansot na bata ang lumusog.

Dahil dito kaya dapat umanong ibalik ang ‘Nutribun Feeding Program’ na solusyon sa problema sa malnutrisyon ng mga bata.

Nakipagsanib puwersa naman si Marcos sa National Nutrition Council na itinatag ng kanyang ama noong 1974, gayundin sa iba’t ibang mga lokal na pamahalaan, sa mga tanggapan ng Department of Social Welfare and Development sa bawat munisipyo at sa mga barangay health workers.

\Bunsod nito kaya umarangkada na ang sabay-sabay na pilot-testing ng Nutribun Feeding Program kahapon sa Rizal, Cebu, at Ilocos Norte, kung saan may 1,000 mga bata na edad tatlo hanggang limang taong gulang sa kada probinsya ang binigyan ng mga pakete ng bantog na tinapay na gawa sa kalabasa, malunggay, at iba pang lokal na masustansyang mga pananim.

Bukod sa distribusyon ng mas pinasustansyang Nutribun, imo-monitor ng tanggapan ni Marcos at ng lahat ng mga kawani ng gobyernong kaagapay sa feeding program ang mga timbang ng mga bata at kalusugan nila sa loob ng 120 araw. (Daris Jose)

EJ Obiena patuloy sa pamamayagpag sa Europa, wagi na naman

PATULOY sa kanyang pamamayagpag si EJ Obiena sa Europo at sa pagkakataong ito ay panalo na naman siya sa torneyo sa 2022 Golden Fly Series Liechtenstein.

Ito ay makaraang mamayani ang dating Pinoy Olympian sa men’s pole vault nang malampasan niya ang 5.71 meters upang talunin ang lima pang mga kalaban.

Ang Golden Fly Series na kompetisyon ay ang huling event para kay Obiena sa ikalawang season niya kung saan limang titulo na ang kanyang naibulsa.

Pumangalawa naman kay Obeina si Olen Tray Oates ng United States.

AFTER “DUNKIRK,” HARRY STYLES TAKES THE LEAD IN “DON’T WORRY DARLING”

WHEN Harry Styles had his first musical fame, he could have made a smooth transition into Hollywood leading man roles.

But he’s never had any interest in doing things the easy way. Instead, he made his film debut as a character actor, with a supporting role in 2017’s “Dunkirk,” the Oscar-nominated World War II drama from Christopher Nolan.

Styles treated “Dunkirk” as a learning experience, not a stepping stone to Hollywood. Five years later, he returns to acting, ready to take the lead as the ambitious husband Jack Chambers in New Line Cinema’s provocative thriller, “Don’t Worry Darling.”

Styles says of the film, “I think, in general, this is about relationships, and trust, and betrayal, and love, and passion, and sex, and the sun, and… Palm Springs.”

In “Don’t Worry Darling,” Alice (Florence Pugh) and Jack (Styles) are lucky to be living in the idealized community of Victory, the experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. The 1950’s societal optimism espoused by their CEO, Frank (Chris Pine) anchors every aspect of daily life in the tight-knit desert utopia. But when cracks in their idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the attractive façade, Alice can’t help questioning exactly what they’re doing in Victory, and why.

Director Olivia Wilde says, “Casting Jack was really tricky, because we wanted to find someone who would be a worthy scene partner to Florence Pugh. We also wanted someone who wasn’t what we might typically identify as a 1950s traditional man.

We wanted their relationship to seem singular. That he wasn’t a stereotypical ‘master of the house,’ that their love seemed genuine, authentic and warm—you’d immediately recognize it to be special within Victory. Jack and Alice are different.”

Having seen “Dunkirk” and been impressed with the performance of Harry Styles, Wilde inquired after his availability for the project. “I thought, here was someone who has tremendous presence, intelligence, and honestly, fearlessness.”

After meeting with filmmakers, Styles signed on to play the role, with mutual excitement between Styles and Pugh to inhabit the couple at the center of the movie.

Styles explains, “Jack Chambers is a husband. He loves his wife, and he wants to go to work and then come home and hang out with Alice. In that way, he’s pretty run-of-the-mill. It’s the very traditional stereotype of an old-school, perfect marriage. While he works, she’s at home, cleaning and cooking. But, he loves his wife more than anything in the world. I think they’re obsessed with each other. It’s kind of an ‘us against the world’ relationship.”

For Styles, that world is one of both lulling, seductive beauty and an opportunity cost: “Victory represents the sheltered kind of life that allows you to stay in your ultimate comfort zone. You can ignore all the problems in the world, and some people are okay with that. I think for everyone, it’s a safe, easy, comfortable little bubble. They think everything’s perfect, but the world isn’t like that. It has consequences. People inside those kind of bubbles, they don’t want to know about the consequences. I think that’s what Victory represents—a willingness to be ignorant to the rest of the world.”

A New Line Cinema presentation, “Don’t Worry Darling” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and is set to open in cinemas across the Philippines on September 28.

DoH nagpaliwanag sa pagpayag na optional na ang pagsusuot ng face mask sa outdoor

DUMIPENSA ang Department of Health (DOH) sa pagpayag nila sa lifting ng mga pagsusuot ng face mask o magiging optional na lamang sa mga outdoors.

DOH Undersecretary at OIC Maria Rosario Vergeire, ginawa nila ang desisyon batay na rin sa pahayag ng World Health Organization na ang face mask mandates ay dapat nakapokus sa mga vulnerable sector.

Nangangahulugan umano ito na dapat pa ring magsuot ng face mask ang mga senior citizens, mga may sakit at mga bata.

Nilinaw din ng DOH chief, sa transport sector din na hindi pa rin daw aalisin ang face mask at sa matataong lugar.

Aminado naman ito sa ngayon hindi pa rin daw masasabing nasa high population immunity na ang pilipinas at hindi pa rin natatapos ang pandemya dahil wala pa tayo sa tinatawag na state of pandemcity.

Kaugnay nito muling nanawagan ang DOH sa mga kababayan na hindi pa nagpa-booster shots na magpaturok na dahil marami sa mga naunang nagpa-vaccine ay humihina na ang depensa laban sa virus. (Daris Jose)

KILALA na si Atty. Mary Melanie “Honey” Quiño sa entertainment industry bilang isang movie producer.

Pag-aari niya ang AQ Prime at A & Q Production Films na nakapag-produce na ng mga pelikulang dinirek ni Joel Lamangan, ang “Nelia” at “Peyri Teyl”, ang latest film ni Superstar at National Artist Nora Aunor ang “Ligalig”, na mula sa direksiyon ni Topel Lee at ang “Pura Serbidora” ni Loiue Ignacio, na unang mapapanood sa international film festivals.

Ang film industry ay malayo sa mundong kinalalagyan ni DA (Deputy Administrator) Honey ngayon. Kung dati ay sa korte at mga shootings siya nahaharap, ngayon ay ang mundo ng mga migranteng manggagawa ang inaasikaso niya.

Kaya naman marami ang nagulat nang tanggapin niya ang pagiging Deputy Administrator ng OWWA kung saan makakasama niya si Arnell Ignacio na siya namang bagong Administrator.

Na-inspire daw si DA Honey sa nakita niyang mga nagawa ni Admin Arnell sa OWWA kaya nagdesisyon siyang tanggapin ang puwesto sa gobyerno.

Alam sa sarili ng lady producer na kakayanin ang mga haharaping hamon ng kanyang trabaho.

“Ever since naman ay hindi na bago ang adhikain ko na makatulong sa kapwa,” pahayag niya.

“Dati ang mga manggagawa ng movie industry ang tinulungan ko dahil wala na talagang gumagawa ng pelikula lalo na noong pandemic.”

Dagdag pa ni DA Honey, “kaya nang lumabas ang appointment paper ko mula kay PBBM ay naisip ko na pagkakataon ko na ito na makatulong sa mas nakararami lalo na sa ating mga migranteng manggagawa.”

Goodluck DA Honey sa bago mong adhikain and for sure, tuloy-tuloy lang ang pagtulong mo sa movie industry, na unti-unti nang nakababangon.

PBBM pinahinto ang pagbabayad ng amortization ng mga benepisaryo ng Agrarian Reform

NILAGDAAN ngayon ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang Executive Order na nagpapataw ng isang taong moratorium sa pagbabayad sa taunang amortization at ng interes ng agrarian reform beneficiaries.

Para ito sa mga lupang agrikultural na ipinamahagi sa ilalim ng Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

Ayon sa Pangulo, ang isang taong moratorium sa land amortization at interest payment ay makababawas sa pasanin ng mga benepisaryo mula sa kanilang mga utang.

Sa halip, sinabi ng presidente na magagamit ng mga ito ang pera sa pagpapaunlad ng kanilang mga sakahan.

Matatandaang sa kanyang unang SONA ay binanggit ni PBBM ang pagpapalaya sa agrarian reform beneficiaries mula sa kanilang mga utang.

Itinaon ng pangulo ang pagtupad sa pangakong ito sa kanyang ika-65 na kaarawan ngayong araw. (Daris Jose)

DALAGITA, NATAGPUANG PATAY SA ILALIM NG TULAY

NAGSASAGAWA ng malalimang imbestigasyon ang Cavite police upang matukoy at maaresto ang pagpatay sa isang 16-anyos na dalagita na natagpuang patay sa ilalim ng tulay sa Trece Martires City, Cavite Lunes ng umaga.

Apat na mga kalalakihan ang persons of interest ng pulisya sa pagkamatay ng biktimang si “Angel”, 16, isang Grade 9 student at residente ng Trece Martires City, Cavite.

“Yung apat na menor de edad na naunang persons of interest ay pinakawalan na namin dahil wala namang maiuugnay sa kanila, pero meron kaming apat na bagong mga persons of interest na mga kalalakihan”. ayon kay Lt Col. Jonathan Asnan, Hepe ng Trece Martirez CPS sa panayam.

Dagdag pa ng Hepe na mga nag-iinuman umano ang mga ito noong Linggo ng gabi hanggang inumaga na ng umuwi. Hindi na nakikita ang mga ito na pawang sinasabing mga mga dayong obrero.

Sa ulat ng pulisya, alas-10:35 Lunes ng umaga nang nakatanggap ng tawag ang pulisya hinggil sa isang bangkay na natagpuan sa Forever bridge sa Package 2, Sunshine Ville Subdivision , Brgy Cabuco, Trece Martires City, Cavite. May sugat sa ulo at leeg ang biktima.

Ayon sa ama ng biktima, umalis si Angel dakong alas 10:00 Linggo ng gabi pero upang katagpuin ang mga kaibigan nito at hindi na rin ito nakabalik hanggang sa natagpuan itong patay kinabukasan.

Nagsasagawa naman ng autopsy at genital examination sa biktima kung ito ay ginahasa.

Agad namang ipinag-utos ni Cavite Police Provincial Office (CPPO), Officer-in-charge Police Colonel Christopher Olazo sa hepe ng Trece Martires COPS ang manhunt operation at agarang pag-aresto sa suspek. (Gene Adsuara)

DILG sa LGUs : Mask rule sa indoor areas, public transport mananatili

NANAWAGAN ang Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa local government units na mahigpit pa ring ipatupad ang mask mandate sa mga indoor areas at pampublikong transportasyon.

Sinabi ni Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. na bahagi ito ng probisyon na nakapaloob sa Executive Order (EO) No. 3 na tinintahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. hinggil sa boluntaryong paggamit ng face masks sa mga outdoor spaces.

“The Department is 100 percent behind President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the implementation of EO 3 on voluntary face mask use outdoors. But while the face mask policy has been made optional in the outdoors, the use of face masks in indoor public and private establishments and in public conveyances shall continue to be enforced, especially now that cases are on the uptick,” ayon kay Abalos.

Kailangan aniyang pangunahan ng LGUs na tiyakin na susunod ang publiko sa indoor at public transport face mask rule sa kani-kanilang lugar.

Inatasan naman ni Abalos ang Philippine National Police (PNP) na tulungan ang LGUs na siguraduhin na susundin ng publiko ang indoor at public transport face mask rule.

“LGUs and the PNP should coordinate closely in ensuring that the public continues to wear face masks indoors and in public transportation. We are still in the middle of the pandemic and we cannot let our guards down,” ayon kay Abalos.

Gayunman, sinabi ni Abalos na ang mga itinuturing na high-risk individuals gaya ng mga lolo’t lola, immunocompromised individuals, at hindi pa fully vaccinated ay hinihikayat na magsuot ng face masks at palaging sundin ang physical distancing.

Pinaalalahanan naman ng Kalihim ang LGUs na magpalabas lamang ng permits to operate sa mga primary tourism enterprises (PTEs), gaya ng mga hotels at resorts na nakatugon sa required accreditation mula sa Department of Tourism (DOT) alinsunod sa umiiral na batas at regulasyon.

Ani Abalos, ang Section 122 ng implementing rules and regulations (IRR) ng Republic Act 9593 o Tourism Act of 2009 ay nagsasaad na “prior accreditation by the DOT is required for the issuance of a license or permit to operate to PTEs by LGUs.”

“Despite the evident booming of our tourism sector following the lull due to the pandemic, PTEs must still abide by tourism laws and regulations. Mahalaga po ang sektor ng turismo sa ating ekonomiya ngunit mahalaga rin na tayo ay sumusunod sa polisiya ng pamahalaan,” ang pahayag ng Kalihim.

Ang PTEs ay tumutukoy sa ” accommodation establishments such as hotels, resorts, and homestays; travel and tour services such as travel and tour agencies and tour operators; tourist transport operators (e.g. land, water, and air); meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions; adventure/sports and ecotourism facilities; and, tourism frontliners or tour guides, among others.”

At sa pagsisimulang muli ng mga tao na bumiyahe, sinabi ni Abalos na ang PTEs na accredited ng DOT ay garantiya na ang protocols na ipinatupad ng pamahalaan para sa proteksyon ng mga turista at mismong PTEs ay nakakasa.

Sinabi pa rin niya na ang LGUs ang dapat na nasa forefront sa pagbibigay proteksyon sa kapakanan at kaligtasan ng mga turista sa pamamagitan ng tiyakin na ang PTEs sa loob ng kanilang hurisdiksyon ay sumusunod sa polisiya ng gobyerno.

“DOT’s mandate for facilities to obtain accreditation ensures the quality of services offered by PTEs is at par with the standards set for the industry, protecting tourists from unreliable transactions from sketchy service providers,” ani Abalos.

“With the DOT accreditation, tourists gain a much-needed peace of mind when they travel,” aniya pa rin.

Samantala, hinikayat naman ni Abalos ang publiko na ipagpatuloy lamang ang pagsunod sa minimum public health standards (MPHS) na itinakda ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) at magpaturok na ng kanilang bakuna at booster doses para ma-enjoy ang ligtas at kaaya-ayang pagbyahe sa bansa.

“We should all do our part in sustaining the gains we made in improving the country’s pandemic situation. Let us still follow the health and safety protocols from IATF, and get vaccinated and boosted. Let us unite as one so we can all experience a better normal,” ayon kay Abalos. (Daris Jose)

DBM, naglaan ng P2.2 bilyong piso para sa mga programa ng DoE sa taong 2023

NAGLAAN ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ng P2.2 bilyong piso para sa tustusan ang iba’t ibang programa ng Department of Energy (DOE) para sa taong 2023.

Sinabi ng DBM na ang nasabing halaga ay “in line with the government’s bid to ensure affordable and clean energy supply in the country.”

Kabilang sa mga programa ng DoE ay ang Total Electrification Project, Renewable Energy Development Program, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program, at Alternative Fuels and Technologies Program.

Sa ilalim ng 2023 National Expenditure Program (NEP), sinabi ng DBM na may P500 milyong piso ang inilaan para “help the DOE fulfill its mandate of energizing around 10,000 households nationwide through the Total Electrification Project (TEP).”

Layon ng proyekto na tugunan ang pangangailangan sa reliable power supply para sa mga natitirang “underserved at unserved Filipino households, na walang access sa elektrisidad.

“This is good news, especially for far-flung areas where electricity is scarce. The Total Electrification Project of the DOE shall help improve and modernize industries in different provinces across the country, which will lead to the expansion of our economy,” ayon kay Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.

Sinabi pa niya na ang P476 milyong piso ay ilalaan para pondohan ang Renewable Energy Development Program, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program, at Alternative Fuels and Technologies Program ng DoE.

“These initiatives are part of the administration’s commitment to provide reasonably priced, sustainable, and sufficient electricity,” ang pahayag ni Pangandaman.

“Consistent with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure the availability of reliable energy in various regions of the country, the DOE has been preparing for the implementation of viable electrification programs that will address the pressing issues faced by the energy sector,” ayon sa DBM.
