“TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS” ROLLS OUT TO A ROARING US$171 GLOBAL OPENING WEEKEND, OPENS AT NO.1 IN PH

TRANSFORMERS Rise of the Beasts crushed its competition at the global box office with a massive weekend opening of US$171 million at the worldwide box office.

In the Philippines, the film debuted at No.1 on its five-day opening weekend, nabbing a huge chunk of the market share.

The seventh installment in the Transformers franchise, Rise of the Beasts shows Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots teaming up with a whole new breed of Transformer – the Maximals – who join them as allies in their epic battle to save Cybertron and Earth against Unicron and the Terrorcons. The film has scored high among audiences, with an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, as of writing.

Local reviews for the film have been mostly positive, mainly for the direction it takes the franchise, and for standout characters such as the Maximals and humans Noah and Elena.

“The Rise of the Beasts continues on the path that Bumblebee started, and tries to bring a bit more sense and story into the Transformers universe. For the most part, it does,” writes Manila Bulletin. “Also, you can’t really go wrong with Optimus Prime commanding the Autobots to ‘Roll Out!,’ and Optimus Primal calling for the Maximals to ‘Maximize!’ It is a definite crowd pleaser.”

Says Manila Times, “It’s light like Saturday morning cartoons back in the day. It’s got comedy, a family angle, action and clever, lovable, noble robots fighting bad robots.”

The Fanboy SEO especially likes the new human characters. “I did like the new take on the human characters for the film in the form of [Anthony] Ramos’ Noah Diaz and Dominique Fishback’s Elena who all have their own plot lines that also gets resolved in a satisfying manner at the end of the film,” he says. “Great choice for giving us Elena, a believable ‘geek’ rather than an unbelievable supermodel who also has multiple PHDs.”

“Malinis at hindi nakakalito o nakakahilo ang labanan sa pelikulang ito,” shares ABS-CBN online. “Doon pa lang, panalo na kaagad ang Rise of the Beasts.”

“While the story is slow-building, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ends up mind-blowing,” writes Philstarlife. “That final scene is one for the books.”

UNQUALIFIED OPINION MULA SA COA, TINANGGAP NG QC LGU SA IKATLONG SUNUD-SUNOD NA PAGKAKATAON

INANUNSYO ni Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte nitong Independence Day celebration na nakatanggap muli sa ikatlong sunud-sunod na pagkakataon ng “unqualified opinion” mula sa Commission on Audit ang pamahalaang lokal ng Quezon City para sa 2022 annual audit report matapos ang mahigpit na assessment.

Ang “unqualified opinion” ay ang pinakamataas na audit opinion na ibinibigay ng COA sa mga ahensya ng pamahalaan, kabilang na ang mga lokal government units.

Ayon kay Belmonte, sa ikatlong sunod na taon mapalad ang Quezon City na mabiyayaan ng ganitong parangal. Ito’y patunay lang ng ating tuluy-tuloy na tapat na pamamahala, at pagiging masinop sa paggamit ng pondo ng taumbayan.

Dagdag pa ng alkalde, hindi natin maaabot ang pagkilalang ito kung hindi dahil sa masisipag at tapat na mga tauhan ng pamahalaang lokal, para sa inyo ang parangal na ito.

Ayon naman kay Joseph Perez, Supervising Auditor ng COA-QC, nakapasa sa masusing pagsisiyasat ng COA ang financial statement ng lungsod at ito ay naaayon sa “applicable fimancial reporting framework.

Si Perez din ang nagpaabot ng balita kay Belmonte kaugnay sa nasabing parangal nang siya ay nag courtesy call sa alkalde.

Kasama ito ni Dingdong Dantes sa ginanap na contract signing sa partnership between Dingdong.ph at RiderKo.

Ayon sa Instagram post ni Marian, “Cheers to my amazing husband! Your passion and dedication to work is truly inspiring. I am in awe in your hard work and commitment to your projects.

“Congratulations on this latest achievement, and know that I am always by your side, cheering you on every step of the way.”

Pinuri rin ni Marian ang bunsong kapatid ni Dingdong na si Vicki Dantes na masasabing pinaka-close kay Marian. Tila si Vicki ang katuwang ni Dingdong sa business niya na ito.

Sey ni Marian kay Vicki, “And to my dear sister @vickidantes I just wanted to let you know how proud I am of you. I have been watching closely and and have seen all the hard work and dedication you put into this project. You truly deserves all the success that come your way.”

Natawa na lang tuloy si Dingdong nang hiritan ito sa mediacon ng ‘Royal Blood’ kung “gipit na gipit” daw ba sila dahil nga left and right ang mga ginagawa nila, lalo na this year.

NAGBALIK tanaw si Dion Ignacio noong nagsisimula pa lang siya sa showbiz.

19 years na rin pala mula sa original batch ng ‘StarStruck’ kunsaan siya napabilang.

Sabi ni Dion, “Sa totoo lang, akala ko after ng StarStruck, wala na, hindi na magtutuloy-tuloy ang career ko.

“Pero salamat talaga kay Lord, 19 years na ako sa GMA at talagang nagpapasalamat ako sa kanila dahil sa tiwala nila sa akin.”

May asawa at dalawang anak na si Dion. At masasabing malayo na rin ang estado ng buhay niya kumpara noong nagsisimula pa lang siya.

Pero ang maganda sa kanya, hindi siya mayabang. Hanggang ngayon, hindi siya yung pa-importante talaga.

At gano’n na lang din ang pasasalamat ni Dion na dahil sa ‘Alternate’ na serye kunsaan, naging double siya ni Dingdong Dantes, naging malapit siya rito.

At ‘eto nga, isa siya sa may magandang role ngayon sa pagbabalik GMA primetime ni Dingdong sa “Royal Blood.”

Ayon kay Dion, “Ibang sumuporta si Kuya Dong. Iba siyang mag-alaga. Hanggang ngayon, nai-starstruck pa rin ako sa ngayon. Ang galing niya sa lahat. Acting, hosting, magsalita.

“Kaya nag-thank you ako kay Kuya Dong, alam na niya ‘yon,” sey ni Dion.

Sa ‘Royal Blood’ din, tila hindi pa makapaniwala si Dion na ang katambal niya at gumaganap na asawa niya sa serye ay si Rhian Ramos.

Mga ahensiya ng pamahalaan, handang tulungan ang mga magsasaka sa ilalim ng ‘Masagana’ program

MAY apat na ahensiya ng pamahalaan ang sanib-puwersa ngayon para tulungan ang mga magsasaka sa ilalim ng Masagana Rice Industry Development Program ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Sa Laging Handa briefing, sinabi ni National Irrigation Administration (NIA) acting administrator Eduardo Guillen na ang programa ay isang c”onvergence effort” ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) at Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Target aniya ng Masagana rice program na tulungan ang mga magsasakang Filipino pagdating sa climate change adaptation at gawin ang kanilang sakahan na mas matibay at matatag laban sa ‘malupit’ na weather conditions.

“In this partnership, one of the responsibilities of the DPWH is to facilitate water management by connecting small water-impounding projects to irrigation facilities,” ayon kay Guillen.

“On the part of (the) NIA, our suggestion is to reposition our production. For example, during the dry season, we know that the yield of the hybrid is high, so we will teach hybrid production in the dry season. And then in the wet season, we will see, we should release water…So those are the systems,” ayon pa rin kay Guillen.

Winika pa nito na layon ng programa na magkaroon ng isang irrigation cooperative sa bawat bayan sa pamamagitan ng pag-cluster sa lahat ng irrigator associations sa bawat munisipalidad.

“So that we can have economies of scale production and to easily deliver the right aid or service or farm inputs to them,” dagdag na pahayag nito.

Samantala, kumpiyansa naman si Guillen na makakamit sa taong 2027 ang target ng gobyerno na 97% ng rice self-sufficiency.

“We can provide the right assistance or inputs to our farmers. Like in the case of hybrid rice, we know that our farmers can’t be convinced to plant hybrid rice sometimes because the input is expensive, it needs more water and more fertilizer,” anito.

Aniya pa, sa tulong ng “seeds at fertilizers” sa ilalim ng National Rice Program, magagawa ng pamahalaan na hikayatin ang mga magsasaka na gumawa ng hybrid planting sa panahon ng dry season. (Daris Jose)

HIMAS-REHAS ang isang lalaki matapos makuhanan ng hindi lisensyadong baril sa bisa ng ipinatupad na search warrant ng pulisya sa Caloocan City, kamakalawa ng hapon.

Kinilala ni Caloocan police chief P/Col. Ruben Lacuesta ang naarestong suspek bilang si Eduardo Ocampo Jr alyas “Jun Tattoo” ng Block 25, Lot 24 Madrid Street Tierra Nova, Phase 2 Barangay 171 Caloocan City.

Sa kanyang ulat kay kay Northern Police District (NPD) Director P/BGen Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr, sinabi ni Col. Lacuesta na nakatanggap ng impormasyon ang mga tauhan ng Calooccan Police Sub Station 9 na illegal na nag-iingat umano ng baril ang suspek.

Sa bisa ng search warrant na inisyu ni Hon. Raymundo G. Vallega, Executive Judge ng Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 130, Caloocan City para sa paglabag sa Section 28 (a) of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act) ay hinalughog ng mga tauhan ng SS9 sa pangunguna ni P/Major Jose Hizon ang loob ng bahay ng suspek dakong alas-4:40 ng hapon.

Nakumpiska ng mga pulis sa loob ng kanyang bahay ang isang cal. 38 revolver na kargado ng isang bala at nang hanapan siya ng kaukulang mga dokumento hinggil sa legalidad ng nasabing baril ay walang naipakita ang suspek na naging dahilan upang arestuhin siya.

Mahaharap ang suspek sa kasong paglabag sa RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act).

COVID-19 positivity rate sa bansa bahagyang bumaba sa 18.6% – OCTA Research

BAHAGYANG bumaba sa 18.6% ang kabuuang bilang ng Covid-19 positivity rate sa bansa batay sa pinakahuling ulat ng OCTA Research.

Sinabi ni Octa Research fellow Guido David, na bumaba na ito sa 18.6% mula sa dating 19.4 percent noong nakaraang araw.

Batay sa kasalukuyang datos ng Department of Health , iniulat ni David na umabot na sa 1,337 ang bagong kaso ng Covid sa buong bansa.

389 na kaso mula sa kabuuang bilang ay nagmula naman sa National Capital Region.

Nakapagtala rin ng mga bagong kaso ng Covid sa Cavite na mayroong 88 na kaso, Bulacan (76 na kaso), Laguna (66 na kaso ), Rizal (58 na kaso ), Iloilo (52), Pampanga (45), Isabela (42), Cagayan (41), Batangas (34), Bataan (32), Pangasinan (28), Quezon (26), Nueva Ecija (25), at Cebu (20).

Samantala,ang kabuuang caseload naman ng covid 19 sa bansa ay pumalo na sa 4,147, 12 9 na kung saan ang 14, 398 dito ay mga aktibong kaso.

“THE heroes of our liberation would be proud to know that we have thrown off the ‘ominous yoke of domination’; never again to be subservient to any external force that directs or determines our destiny.”

Ito ang inihayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa idinaos na ika-125 na anibersaryo ng Philippine Independence and Nationhood.

Tiniyak ng Pangulo sa mga mamamayang Filipino ang kanyang suporta na palayain ang bansa mula sa “corrosive political and social conditions” na maaaring bihagin ang bansa.

Sa kanyang naging talumpati, sinabi ng Pangulo na isang malaking karangalan para sa kanya na tumayo bilang kinatawan ng bansa para gunitain ang kabayanihan ng mga bayaning Filipino na ipinaglaban ang kalayaan ng bansa.

Hinikayat nito ang mga mamamayang Filipino na “to pause and reflect” kung paano ang bansa ay maging “from that transformative event” sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas.

“I appeal for unity and solidarity in our efforts to perfect our hard-fought freedom, and achieve genuine national progress. Heeding this call will indispensably require patriotism and a strong sense of community, diligence, industry, and responsibility from all our citizens,” ayon sa Pangulo.

Tinuran pa nito na sa kabila ng “evolutionary developments” para gawing “free, independent, at democratic state” ang bansa, mayroon aniyang manifold “unfreedoms” ang nananaig sa lipunan at nakaharang sa daan ng human development.

“Poverty, inadequate economic opportunities, disabling rather than enabling living conditions, inequality, and apathy are corrosive political and social conditions that hinder the nation’s complete freedom and development,” ayon sa Pangulo.

“We will strive to remove the unfreedoms. We will aim to feed the hungry, free the bound, and banish poverty. These are primordial moral and existential imperatives laid upon your Government,” dagdag na wika nito.

“Through wise policies, we will foster a highly conducive and enabling environment in which the exercise of true human compassion shall allow for the full development of the Filipino,” aniya pa rin.

Sa kabilang dako, sinabi pa ng Pangulo na inilatag na ng kanyang administrasyon ang Philippine Development Plan para sa susunod na anim na taon.

Ipatutupad aniya ito ng may “vigor and consistency.”

“The government will be responsible,” ayon sa Pangulo sabay nangako na pangungunahan ang mga Filipino sa mahaba at matarik na daan para makamit ang kalayaan mula sa pagkagutom, kapabayaan at pagkatakot.

“But as integral actors in our democracy, we are all involved in this collective pursuit of real freedoms. That duty rests with all of us,” ayon sa Punong Ehekutibo.

Hinikayat ng Chief Executive ang mga Filipino na magkaisa na suportahan ang isang “free at independent Republic.”

Ang bawat isa aniya ay may obligasyon sa mga pambansang bayani ng bansa at sa susunod na henerasyon ng mga Filipino para suportahan at panatilihin ang malaya at independent republic.

Ngayong araw ay ipinagdiriwang ng Pilipinas ang ika-125 taong anibersaryo ng Philippine Independence and Nationhood na may temang “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.” (Daris Jose)
