Djokovic pinayuhan na magpaturok ng COVID-19 vaccine para makalaro sa Australian Open

Mahigpit na pinaalalahanan ng mga opisyal ng Australia na dapat magpaturok ng COVID-19 vaccine ang sinumang tennis player na lalahok sa Australian Open.

Isa sa maaapektuhan ay si Australian Open defending champion Novak Djokovic.

Hanggang sa kasalukuyan kasi ay hindi pa rin isinisiwalat ng Serbian tennis player kung ito ay nagpabakuna na laban sa COVID-19.

Sinabi naman ni Minister for Immigration Alex Hawke na ang mga manlalaro mula sa ibang bansa ay dapat magkaroon ng dalawang vaccination shots para makapaglaro ng grand slam sa Melbourne Park sa darating na Enero.

Marami kasing mga professional tennis players ang nagdadalawang isip pa rin na magpaturok ng vaccine laban COVID-19.

Olympic flames nakarating na sa Beijing, China para sa 2022 Winter Games

Nakarating na sa China ang Olympic flame na gagamitin para sa Beijing 2022 Winter Games.

Magiging kauna-unahang host kasi ang Beijing ng Summer at Winter Games kung saan matapos ang welcome ceremony ay kanilang idi-display sa publiko ang nasabing Olympic flame.

Nasa 2,900 na atleta mula sa 85 National Olympic Committee ang lalahok sa Winter Games na magsisimula sa Pebrero 4-20, 2022.

Unang sinindihan ito sa Athens, Greece nitong nakalipas na Lunes at ipinasa sa organizers ng Beijing Games.

UMABOT na sa mahigit na sa tatlong libong mga kabataan ang naturukan laban sa COVID-19.

Sa datos ng Department of Health, nasa 3,416 na nasa edad 12-17 na may comorbidities ang nabakunahan na sa pilot implementation na nagsimula noong Biyernes

Isinagawa ang pilot run ng vaccination sa pediatric group sa walong ospital ngunit maaari pa umano itong madagdagan sa susunod na mga araw.

Paalala lamang ni Health Usec Maria Rosario Vergeire, kailangan ang mga babakunahang kabataan ay may consent ang magulang o guardian at may clearance mula sa kanyang doktor

‘Vax to the Max’: Galvez, target na alisin na ang priority list sa COVID-19 vaccination

KINUKUNSIDERA na ni Secretary Carito Galvez Jr., vaccine czar at chief implementer of the National Task Force (NTF) Against the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), ang pag-alis sa “priorities” sa vaccination program upang bigyang daan ang pagbabakuna sa lahat ng mga indibiduwal na handa at payag na magpabakuna.

Ani Galvez, nakausap na ng NTF ang pribadong sektor at isa sa kanilang rekumendasyon ay ang “Vax to the Max” kung saan ia-accommodate ng gobyerno ang mga gustong magpabakuna sa halip na sundin ang priority list.

“Their, private sector first proposal is called Vax to the Max. This means that we have to vaccinate all the willings. We will do away with the sequential strategy and we will widen the coverage so that those who want to get the vaccine can do so,” ang bahagi ng ulat ni Galvez kay Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte sa Talk to the People ng huli, Martes ng gabi.

Sinusunod ng pamahalaan ang rekomendasyon ng World Health Organization (WHO) na priority list sa vaccination program nito.

Sa kasalukuyan, kabilang sa mga prayoridad ay ang healthcare workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), persons with co-morbidities (A3), economic frontliners (A4), at indigent population (A5).

“But with the Vax to Max strategy,it is seen to significantly raise the daily vaccine throughput to 1.5 million doses from the current average of 400,000 to 500,000 administered jabs daily,” ani Galvez.

Maliban dito, ipinanukala rin ng pribadong sektor sa NTF na magbigay ng insentibo sa mga fully vaccinated individuals upang mahikayat ang mas maraming tao na magpabakuna, na tinalakay na ni Galvez kay Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Ano.

“If they are vaccinated, they could be the only ones allowed to go out. They could be the only ones allowed to dine-in, travel, and they will have no restrictions,” ayon kay Galvez.

“That’s what Israel did, and they also subjected the unvaccinated to swab test every week, the expenses of which will be shouldered by them [unvaccinated]. So these are the vaccination mandates, meaning it will entice most of our unvaccinated to be vaccinated,” dagdag na pahayag nito.

Gayunman, maaari namang maging sanhi ng problema ang estratehiya sa “far-flung and geographically isolated areas” na bihirang marating ng suplay ng bakuna.

“We are addressing the logistical challenge at the regional, provincial, and municipal deployment and administration because we noticed that it takes more or less seven to nine days before the vaccines are deployed in the vaccination sites,” ang lahad ni Galvez.

(PhilHealth), pagpapanatili ng “masking” at pagbibigay ng ligtas na kapaligiran at ventilation sa komunidad at lugar na pinagta-trabahuan at paghahanda ng revaccination o third dosing sa healthcare workers at vulnerable sector sa Nobyembre o unang bahagi ng buwan ng Disyembre. Mga hagdan sa Manila North Cemetery, pinagkukumpiska

Pinagkukumpiska ng mga tauhan ng Manila Police District (MPD) ang mga hagdan na ginagamit na pasukan sa ‘backdoor’ ng Manila North Cemetery (MNC) makaraang ipag-utos ang pagsasara ng lahat ng sementeryo sa Metro Manila ngayong Undas.

Unang nakipag-ugnayan si MNC Administrator Yayay Castaneda sa Sta. Cruz Police Station 3 makaraan ang ulat na patuloy ang gawain ng mga residente na nasa likuran ng sementeryo sa pagpapasok sa mga tao gamit ang mga hagdang kahoy.

Pinagkakakitaan ito ng mga residente sa paniningil ng hanggang P50 para makapasok ng sementeryo at makabisita sa kanilang namayapang kaanak o mahal sa buhay.

Samantala, inabisuhan na ni Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ang publiko na agahan na ang pagbisita sa kanilang mga namayapa dahil sa isasara ang mga sementeryo mula Oktubre 29 hanggang Nobyembre 3.

Bukod sa mga sementeryo, isasara rin ang mga kolumbaryo at maging ang Muslim Cemetery sa ilalim ng Executive Order No. 33 ni Moreno.

Alicia Silverstone Shares TikTok About How She Was Body-Shamed As Batgirl

CLUELESS star Alicia Silverstone reflects in a TikTok video on how she was body-shamed when she played Batgirl in the 1997 film Batman & Robin.

Silverstone was just 19 years old during the filming of the Joel Schumacher superhero film. She was also coming hot off the set of her big break in the 1995 movie, Clueless, which has gone on to develop a cult following of sorts. Despite her small frame, that didn’t stop the media from body-shaming the actress when Batman & Robin finally premiered.

Post-Clueless, Silverstone witnessed several publications “make fun” of her body, just as she began hitting the height of her career. The actress has spoken out against the body-shaming she experienced in several interviews over the years.

She said in her most recent, a 2020 interview, “It was hurtful but I knew they were wrong.”

Despite the body-shaming she experienced, the Batgirl actress would later go on to be voted as the “Sexiest Female Vegetarian” by PETA in 2004, as well as appear nude in a print advertisement for PETA in 2007. While the actress “wasn’t confused” by the body-shaming and she knew “it was not right,” that kind of scrutiny can still leave a major impression on anyone.

Recently, Silverstone reflected in a TikTok video posted via the ForeverSymone Twitter handle about the body-shaming she experienced as Batgirl in Batman & Robin. Dueting in a video, Silverstone and the TikTok user reference a 1996 Entertainment Weekly article, titled “A Weighty Issue,” that compared the actress to Babe the pig and said she appeared to be “slimming fast for her role as Batgirl.” The TikToker then demanded the media apologize to Silverstone for calling her “fat girl.”

Silverstone has addressed the 1996 article in previous interviews, sharing that the ridicule made her want to step away from acting completely. During the interview, the actress said that if she knew acting meant that she was “going to be called fat” then she would have had “no interest in being famous or maintaining any kind of fame.”

Silverstone has since gone on to continue acting, starring in numerous films and TV shows over the years. However, concerning the body-shaming she experienced, the actress feels it “doesn’t seem like the right thing to be doing to a human.”

As the TikTok video above points out, Silverstone was probably around 130 pounds during the filming of Batman & Robin. Yet, because she had a “full-figured” face, the media went after her by discussing her weight.

As Silverstone says, it’s not right to make fun of somebody’s body shape. While the actress was hurt by the body-shaming she experienced, she never let it get to her personally, and she’s come out stronger on the other end.

Pinas, nagprotesta laban sa bagong “provocative acts” ng Chinese vessels sa South China Sea

NAGHAIN ng protesta ang Pilipinas laban sa bagong “provocative acts” ng Chinese vessels sa South China Sea.

Sa isang tweet, sinabi ng DFA na nagpapatunog ng sirena at busina ang mga barko ng China sa gitna ng pagpapatrolya ng mga awtoridad ng Pilipinas na nagsasagawa ng “legitimate, customary, and routine patrols sa “territory and maritime zones” ng bansa.

“These provocative acts threaten the peace, good order, and security of the South China Sea and run contrary to China’s obligations under international law,” ayon sa DFA.

Noong Setyembre, ipinag-utos ni DFA Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. ang paghahain ng protesta laban sa China dahil sa patuloy na presensya nito sa West Philippine Sea. (Daris Jose)

KINUMPIRMA ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque na kinunsulta ng Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) ang lahat ng rehiyon at probinsya bago pa ikinasa ang bagong alert level system sa ilang piling lugar sa bansa.

Umapela kasi ang League of Provinces in the Philippines sa IATF na ipagpaliban ang implementasyon ng alert level system sa mga lalawigan dahil hindi sila nakonsulta at nabulaga na lamang sila sa biglaang pagpapatupad ng alert level system gayong kailangan pang paghandaan ito ng mga LGU.

“Lilinawin ko lang po ha: Lahat po ng mga rehiyon at mga probinsya na magpapatupad ng alert level system ay kinunsulta po ang mga LGUs,” ayon kay Sec. Roque.

“Hindi po siguro nakonsulta ang buong League of Governors kasi hindi naman po i-implement sa lahat ng probinsya ang alert level system. Pero iyong mga lugar, mga expanded pilot areas nakonsulta po sila dahil ang mga lokal na mga pamahalaan naman po ang magpapatupad nitong alert level system,” dagdag na pahayag ni Sec. Roque.

Kaya pagdating sa apela ng League of Governors ay unang-una ay wala pang tinatalakay na apela kasi nga ang mga lugar na ipatutupad ang alert level system, lahat ay mga lokal na pamahalaan kaya’t doon nagsagawa ng konsultasyon.

Sa ulat, balak ng League of Provinces of the Philippines na hilingin sa Inter-agency Task Force na ipagpaliban muna ang pagpapatupad ng ‘Alert Level System for Covid-19 response’ sa buong Pilipinas.

Ginawa ng grupo ang pahayag kasunod nang naging desisyon ng IATF na gawin sa buong bansa ang alert level system matapos umanong makita na epektibo ang pilot implementation nito sa Metro Manila.

Ayon kay League of Province President at Marinduque Gov. Presbitero Velasco Jr. hihilingin umano ng mga gobernador na bigyan sila ng sapat na panahon upang gumawa ng executive order.

Maliban pa dito kailangan din umanong maayos ang desiminasyon ng impormasyon at maipaliwanag sa mga tao bago ang pagpapatupad nito.

Sinabi ni Velasco na kung pagbibigyan sila ng IATF pwedeng sa November 1 na lamang ipatupad ang bagong alert level system. (Daris Jose)

COVID-19 pandemic tatagal pa hanggang taong 2022 – WHO

Nagbabala ang World Health Organization (WHO) na maaaring tatagal pa hanggang taong 2022 ang COVID-19 pandemic.

Ito ay sa kadahilanang ang mga mahihirap na bansa ay hindi pa raw nakakakuha ng tamang bakuna na kanilang kailangan.

Sinabi ni Dr Bruce Aylward, senior leader ng WHO, mas mababa sa 5 percent na populasyon ng Africa ang nabakunahan kumpara sa ibang bansa na nasa 40 percent na.

Ang UK ay nakapag-deliver na ng mahigit 10 million na bakuna sa mga bansa na nangangailangan ng bakuna.

Dahil dito, umapela si Dr Aylward sa mga mayayamang bansa na i-give up muna ang kanilang pakikipagpilahan para sa mga bakuna upang mas gawing prayoridad ng mga pharmaceutical company ang mga lowest-income countries.

“I can tell you we’re not on track” ani Dr Aylward. “We really need to speed it up or you know what? This pandemic is going to go on for a year longer than it needs to.”
