BROTHERS TURN ENEMIES AS JONATHAN MAJORS TAKES HIS SHOT IN “CREED III”

Posted on: February 28th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

RISING star Jonathan Majors (“Lovecraft Country,” “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania”) faces off against Michael B. Jordan in Warner Bros. Pictures’ action-packed boxing movie “Creed III,” in cinemas across the Philippines starting March 1.

In the film, after dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed (Jordan) has been thriving in both his career and family life. When a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian (Majors), resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring.

The face-off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian – a fighter who has nothing to lose.

Jonathan Majors, who stars as Damian, observes, “As an actor approaching it, I looked at both characters’ journeys and where they were going. Michael was so honest and exciting as a filmmaker about what he wanted to do with the story, that he wanted to do something different from the canonical themes established already.

But at the same time, he wanted to honor the legacy of ‘Rocky’ and the previous ‘Creed’ films. Through conversations with Michael, I knew this would be a story about two men and their dreams colliding. In some ways, ‘Creed III’ feels more intimate than others in this franchise, while the saga of it is truly epic.”

“When people see the film, they’ll see that this is actually two people who once loved each other, seemingly trying to reconnect, but one overplays the hand,” adds Majors.

Looking back at their history, he notes, “Because of the society they were in, because of the actions that they took, Dame ended up having to deal with the penal system and go to prison. While in there, he held onto the brotherly love between him and Donnie. What had kept them both afloat when they were in the midst of poverty, of foster care, of the streets, was that dream they shared of boxing; that was their ticket.

“Damian, the stronger and older fighter teaching the younger boxer who was like his younger brother how to fight—and ultimately how to survive—never left him,” Majors continues. “In prison, Dame keeps his bond with Adonis by watching him work and watching him win, you know, and essentially living the dream that they both had. But that also leads to an adversarial spirit, which breeds resentment.”

“Talking about Mike as a director, I’ve never felt more taken care of as far as the world-building of the film, the understanding of the character I was playing,” shares Majors. “It’s never been so concrete in the best way. We worked in such a way where it was a real collaboration. He trusted, for whatever reason, that I was going to do the job, and when you feel that trust, you want to deliver. And as an actor, it amazed me how our chemistry worked.”

Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures Presents A Chartoff-Winkler Production, “Creed III” is  distributed internationally by Warner Bros. Pictures including the Philippines.

Posted on: February 28th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“PEOPLE don’t know that me and my sister, we were the only two Asians in Utah, so we were subject to a lot of racism.

“We live in a very small paper town in Utah. So they really didn’t understand Asian culture, didn’t understand why do I have values, why do I say prayers, why do I have these routines of, I love eating with my hands growing up. Nobody understood the culture,” sey ni Michelle Dee.

“Hindi pa uso ‘yung social media then. I don’t know if alam ng mga tao na my mom and my dad had a rough marriage. So kaya kami lumipat sa States, is to get away from that drama.

“That’s why I grew up in the States, ‘cause my mom wanted to protect us from the noise. But of course it’s marriage, laging nag-aaway ‘yung mom ko and my step dad. And I actually grew up with parent figures or people around me that will criticize every move that I make.”

“I’m so grateful for my mom because she the one who really taught me how to stay strong. To believe in the goodness and your worth, and to show that to people.

“Just like my mom, I really just want to inspire people to achieve their best self and to take that struggle and turn it into your strength,” sey pa ni Michelle na bahagi ng cast ng Kapuso mega serye na ‘Mga Lihim Ni Urduja’.

DILG, PNP gigisahin sa ambush at patayan

Posted on: February 28th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“We will ask the police and the DILG, saan ang problema? Intelligence ba?

(Daris Jose)

Nationwide earthquake drill sa ‘Big One’ ikinasa sa Marso 9

Posted on: February 28th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

Posted on: February 28th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“Politician I would like to take a rest muna,” ang natatawang umpisang sinabi ni Darryl, “well there’s an offer for the Dutertes but I said I’m gonna rest for awhile.

“After the trilogy perhaps I’m just gonna, you know, create more films that are not political, ‘coz it’s consuming my energy, the stress that I’m getting.”

“Well I want to tackle the life of Charo Santos.

“I would like to, you know… coz she’s a very good actress and became a very important part of Philippine entertainment, ‘no?
“How do you maintain… gusto kong ikuwento  yung buhay ng tagapagkuwento, I think it’s really a very good content, ‘no?”

“With all the letters that she has been reading, ‘no? I guess if I get to tell her story I’ll be telling the story of millions so… I find her very beautiful, what she did with ABS-CBN is far beyond compare.

“She’s a woman of grace and I don’t think there’s a person in showbiz that can speak ill of her.

“She’s very gracious and I want to create a movie about a woman who achieved greatness not just because she’s beautiful but she’s a good person.”

Women empowerment kumbaga…

“Yes! Something like that.”

“Charo Santos… well, tutal ano naman ‘to, fantasy question…”

“Yeah, why not? Dyusko lahat ng sasabihin ko hindi artista ng Viva so kung gusto kong maging realistic ‘to hindi in the next five years dahil five years ako…

“Well as the young Charo, Kathryn would be very good,” pagbanggit ni Darryl sa Kapamilya actress na si Kathryn Bernardo, “Kathryn would be very good.

“Then Judy Ann is very nice, Judy Ann, di ba,” pagtukoy naman ni Darryl sa premyadong aktres at isa sa mga reyna ng ABS-CBN na si Judy Ann Santos. “And Santos din and you know, very Filipina.

“It’s really a dream, ‘no. I really fell in love with Ms. Charo, she’s really ano, she’s really something.

Posted on: February 28th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“It’s an honor to be nominated in Hollywood and Bafta.Maimbitahan nga lang sa Oscar honor na.”

“Agree! She will be nominated for an Oscar for this movie!”

“Let’s hope so.”

Nope! Sharon is great!”

“Best actress na tong si sharon. mark my words! fight me!”

“Libre ang mangarap, Bakit ko lilimitahan! Best actress si Sharon dito!”

“magaling si Ate Shawie. She may be pabebe irl but when she takes on a character nawawala talaga yun Sharon the megastar. Recently pinanuod ko ulit yun Crying Ladies sa Netflix and my goodness ang galing nya 👏 she can do under acting yun mga hindi pasigaw eklavu pero the performance delivers a punch to the gut. I remember nung ginawa nya yun Pasan ko ang Daigdig with the late great Lino Brocka, even he said nung una wala sya bilib pero at the end of it all for him Sharon is the real deal!

“Hello Hollywood!”

“Agree ako. Hirap na role yung Marcela at daming ganap sa buhay niya!”

“Can’t wait to see this film.”

Malamang she will play one of the younger leads.”

“Sharon will play the long suffering housekeeper. Yun interpreter is yun apo ng Doña.”

“The main characters are: Beverly – the niece of Marcela,

Amaparo – rich granddaughter of the Donya, Donya Concha and Marcela, the chef who will be played by Sharon Cuneta.

“This is a good one. Hope it will finish soon.”

“Good luck Mega! Sa tagal ng planning stage nito, I’m hoping this movie will be fantastic.

Posted on: February 25th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“I don’t think I have any comments, kasi, honestly, I saw his interview and what he said. Finally he was able to talk about what happened to us. It was an issue that was never talked about, really. It was never… parang walang assurance at all sa mga tao kung ano ba ‘yung talagang nangyari.

“And, I think, by his answer to that question about us, it answered so many delusions… mga theories ng mga fans noon. I have nothing else to say kasi, I think, I would answer the same thing na totoo naman lahat ng sinabi niya,” sey ni Bianca.

“Well, of course I couldn’t say that we are friend-friends kasi we are not as barkada-friends. But we are friends sa loob ng network. And we don’t really see each other that often. So nagkakabatian.”

Ravena’, ‘Kambal Karibal’, at ‘Sahaya’.

“Because it is for how many years and it’s disrespectful naman din to him na i-disregard ‘yung presence na ‘yon. So I have nothing against him talaga. It’s more of I’m just happy we both have our own lives, our own partners. We both have grown, he has grown, and I think it shows so much in that interview,” sey pa ni Bianca.

WRITERS OF “A QUIET PLACE” ARE NOW FULL-FLEDGED DIRECTORS OF “65”

Posted on: February 25th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

SCOTT Beck and Bryan Woods previously triumphed as part of the writing team of A Quiet Place, which took audiences by storm in 2018.

Now, the tandem writes and directs Columbia Pictures’ new futuristic action-thriller 65, starring Adam Driver.

[Watch spot from 65 at https://youtu.be/_daxPsNkIoQ]

“Horror, suspense, action, adventure – that’s the sweet spot for us,” says Beck. “And what we love even more is to combine genre with a heartbeat – characters you really love.”

“The stories we love are always cinematic,” adds Woods. “It’s about the experience of what a movie brings – the visuals, the performances, the music, the marriage of all of these different capacities.”

In 65, Adam Driver plays Mills, an interstellar pilot transporting a large group of passengers through space, when an accident kills all of his passengers but one – a young girl named Koa, played by Ariana Greenblatt.

What Mills and Koa don’t know is that the planet they have landed on is our own Earth – 65 million years ago. As they begin their epic journey toward their only means of escape, they are hunted by vicious packs of dinosaurs that stalk them across a dangerous landscape.

“The 12-year-olds in us always wanted to write a dinosaur film,” says Beck. “True human emotions are coming through the screen in the most powerful way throughout these set pieces.”

“For us, writing and directing are the same thing – it’s all storytelling,” says Woods.

Paradoxically, Beck says, it’s because they are both writing and directing that they are less bound by their own screenplay. “As a director, you can open up to any good idea on set, whether it’s from your DP or your VFX Supervisor or one of your actors,” says Beck. “You can mix it up, right up in the last moment when you’re ready to call ‘action.’”

“It’s about all the things cinema does best – visuals, sound, music, performance. We’re very inspired by silent filmmaking, and leaning on those basic principles of cinema – using these minimalist tools to tell a story on the most epic scale possible,” says Woods.

The other classic lesson that Beck and Woods take is in building suspense. “We had a mantra: ‘it’s about what you don’t see,’” says Beck. “That was very instrumental on A Quiet Place, as it was instrumental as we grew up on movies like Jaws. The whole movie has been built on that mantra – the idea that there’s something dangerous and mysterious out there in this environment that Mills and Koa will have to engage with. We’re using sound design, we’re using the camera, we’re using production design to suggest what’s out there, and only at the right moment will we startle the audience.”

In cinemas across the Philippines starting March 8, 65 is distributed in the Philippines by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.  Connect with the hashtag #65Movie
