UMABOT sa 23,399 ang mga materyal para sa telebisyon at pelikula ang narebyu at nabigyan ng angkop na klasipikasyon ng Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) para sa buwan ng October 2024.

Kinabibilangan ito ng mga TV programs (11,512), TV Plugs and Trailers (11,640), Films (Local and International) (66), Movie Trailers (54) at Movie Publicity Materials (127)

Ayon kay MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto-Antonio, ang malaking bilang ng narebyu ng Board ay isang magandang indikasyon ng pagyabong ng industriya ng paglikha.

“Kami sa MTRCB ay lubos na natutuwa sa malaking bilang ng mga materyal na isinumite sa ating Ahensya para mabigyan ng tama at angkop na klasipikasyon ng ating tatlumpu’t isang Board Members,” sabi ni Sotto-Antonio.

Ayon sa MTRCB Board, nagpapakita ito ng dedikasyon ng Ahensiya sa pagsuporta sa kalayaan sa pagpapahayag o freedom of expression at sa pagtitiyak na ligtas panoorin ang mga palabas bago ito mapanood ng publiko.

KUNG si Ogie Alcasid ang tatanungin ay gusto lang daw niya noon na maging host ng ‘It’s Showtime’.

Matatandaang nagsimula lang bilang isa sa mga hurado ang singer-songwriter para sa Tawag Ng Tanghalan segment ng programa noong 2017.

Kasagsagan pa noon ng pandemic noong 2021 nang maging opisyal na host ng naturang noontime show si Ogie.

“Parang it was a dream come true. Parang naalala ko noong judge pa lang ako sa Tawag Ng Tanghalan, sabi ko ang saya-saya nila doon sa entablado.

“Parang sarap makipagbardagulan sa kanila and it happened,” napatawang sambit ka agad ng magaling na singer at aktor.

HINDI na rin nawawala ang pagsubok o problema kay Ogie Alcasid.

Sa halos apat na taon ay marami na ring pagsubok ang nalampasan ng singer-composer.

Pati problema sa pamilya at magiging sa kanyang karera bilang aktor, singer at TV host ay sunod-sunod ding naranasan ni Ogie. Siyempre alam din naman ni Ogie na sooner or later meron na ring pumalit sa kasalukuyan niyang estado bilang sikat na mang-aawit.

May mga pagkakataon ngang naiisip ni Ogie na posibleng mayroon nang papalit sa mga ginagawang trabaho niya sa ngayon.

HININGAN namin ng reaksyon si Tessie Tomas na isa sa bida ng ’Senior Moments’ tungkol sa mga kabataang artista ngayon kumpara sa panahon nila noon.

“Napakabigat ng mga tanong na yan ha,” tumatawang sagot ng aktres sa amin, “siyempre ang nakikita ko ay napaka-gadget conscious nila, their attention is very limited.

“Therefore they have to be always told and guided na, ‘Huwag mo namang dalhin ang cellphone mo sa set’, ‘Mag-memorize ka naman’, Dibdibin mo naman’.”
May nasita na siyang nakababatang artista.

“Meron na, dun sa ‘Dirty Linen’ noon.

“Alam mo ang maganda nakikinig sila because they respect me and they know that… you know, I am who I am because of my discipline.

“Discipline, commitment, kailangan nila, focus, focus.”

Sa ‘Senior Moments’ na mula sa A&S Production ay kasama ni Tessie sina Nova Villa at Noel Trinidad.

Ang naturang pelikula ay mula sa panulat at direksyon ni Neil ‘Buboy’ Tan.

Nalalapit na ang eleksyon sa Mayo 2025, at tila record-breaking ang dami ng mga artista na magtatangkang pasukin ang mundo ng pulitika.

Ano ang pananaw niya sa maraming artistang nag-file ng kani-kanyang certificate of candidacy?

“Oo nga, dadahan-dahanin ko ng pagsasalita baka mamaya one day kumandidato din ako,” at muli siyang tumawa.

“Siguro lang isipin niyo, kayo po ba ay college graduate? “Kayo po ba ay may alam sa political science and right governance?

“Merong… ano tawag dun, may deserving, merong hindi qualified, ayokong… kasi mga kaibigan ko sila.”

Siya ba ay sumunok na rin na maging public servant?

“Meron, merong talaga na as early as 1991 up to ‘94, kasagsagan ko sa TNT, talagang…”

Siya ang host ng talk show na Teysi Ng Tahanan sa ABS-CBN mula 1991 hanggang 1997.

Pagpapatuloy pa ni Tessie… “At saka ang pressure, governor of Western Samar, pero… kasi ayaw ng asawa ko, si Roger Pulin, ayaw na ayaw niya, ako rin naman wala, wala akong masyadong hilig, buti na lang.

“Meron akong lolo na naging mayor ng Samar, ako mas turned on ako… kasi 25 years na akong nagso-social work sa Mindanao, tumutulong ako sa isang NGO at hanggang ngayon tumutulong ako sa Samar Foundation, happy na ako dun.

“Tumutulong ako sa Samar Foundation at dun sa isang NGO noon sa Mindanao for Muslims.

“Di ba when you’re an NGO you’re neutral, at saka wala kang hidden agenda e, feel good.”

Controversial docu-film ‘Lost Sabungeros’ premieres in QCinema International Film Festival

AFTER its controversial cancellation at the 20th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, the wait is finally over as GMA Public Affairs’ first-ever investigative documentary film, “Lost Sabungeros,” is set to have its international premiere at the QCinema International Film Festival this November 9.

Directed by Bryan Brazil, “Lost Sabungeros” aims to investigate the disappearances of over 30 sabungeros who have been abducted in various incidents since 2022.

Last August, the screenings of Lost Sabungeros were canceled due to “security concerns.” This drew more questions and concerns from the public, resulting in a strong clamor to watch the documentary.

The Directors’ Guild of the Philippines, Inc. (DGPI) issued a statement in support of creative freedom and safety, expressing that the unfortunate cancellation of the film is a “stark reminder of the challenges faced by those who dare to challenge the entrenched through their art.”

Now, “Lost Sabungeros” has found a new platform to show the story of these individuals through the QCinema International Film Festival.

Brazil expressed his gratitude to QCinema for including the film in their roster of documentaries for this year’s screenings.

“Thank you very much, QCinema. This film has gone a long way and we’re really happy to be given this platform in QCinema. ‘Lost Sabungeros’ is the story of the families of missing cockfighters who have still not been found. This is not just their story but also the story of our nation and the solutions for our society,” he said.

When the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all cockfighting arenas in the Philippines, the century-old gambling bloodsport moved online and grew into a money-making machine overnight. But things took a shocking turn when more than 30 men disappeared without a trace.

“Lost Sabungeros” documents some of the lives of people whose world has been turned upside down because of the bloodsport.

The highlight of “Lost Sabungeros” is the three whistleblowers who came forward to share their knowledge about the crimes allegedly committed by those who abducted the missing sabungeros.

“Lost Sabungeros” will have its premiere on November 9, 8:35 p.m., at Cinema 16, Gateway Cineplex 18 in Quezon City. This will be followed by a talk back session moderated by Kara David, during which the directors, producers, and relatives of the missing sabungeros will be interviewed.

The film will have additional screenings on November 10, 5:15 p.m. at Cinema 16 and on November 12, 1:45 p.m. at Cinema 15 of the Gateway Cineplex 18.

A pioneer in documentary, talk, and news magazine programming, GMA Public Affairs has put the Philippines on the world stage with its legacy programs recognized by prestigious award-giving bodies here and abroad. With “Lost Sabungeros,” it takes a significant step forward by producing its first investigative docu-film, further expanding its commitment to impactful storytelling.

NAIBENTA sa halagang $4.68 milyon o katumbas mahigit P235-M ang basketball jersey ni NBA legend Michael Jordan.

Ayon sa Sotheby auction sa New York na isinuot ni Jordan ang nasabing jersey sa championship season ng Chicago Bulls mula 1996 hanggang 1997.

Inaasahan na nila na hindi bababa sa $4 hanggang $6-M ang aabutin nito mula ng ianunsiyo ito noong Oktubre.

Suot ni Jordan ang jersey ng halos 17 laro lalo na noong Marso 12, 1997 noong rookie pa lamang si Allen Iverson ay nag-cross over kay Jordan na siyang isa sa mga iconic highlights.

Kadalasan kasi ay hindi na inuulit pa ni Jordan ang kaniyang mga jersey.

Bukod sa nasabing jersey ay kasama rin sa auction ang ibang mga gamit ni Jordan gaya ng puting Bulls jersey, bandila na suot nito ng makatanggap ng 1992 gold medal Olympics at warm-up top at sneakers mula noong ito ay naglalaro pa sa University of North Carolina.

Ginawa ng NBI ang babala kasunod ng pagsalakay sa isang bahay sa Arayat ,Pampanga at gumagawa at nagbebenta ng pekeng bitamina ng mga bata ng higit nang 20 taon.

Ayon kay Bati, isinagawa ang operasyon matapos magsumbong ang isang dating empleyado ng kumpanya ang ilegal na aktibidad.

Kinumpirma ng FDA na ang kumpanya ay walang lisensya upang mag-operate at ang brand name na Nutrivit-C ay hindi rehistrado.

INIHARAP ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang driver ng kontrobersyal na sports utility vehicle (SUV) na may “7” protocol plate na ilegal na pumasok sa EDSA Busway at inanunsyo ng ahensya na natukoy na rin ang rehistradong may-ari ng nasabing sasakyan.

Ayon kay LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II, ang driver ay kinilalang si Angelito Edpan habang ang puting Cadillac Escalade ay nakarehistro sa Orient Pacific Corporation.

“I would like to announce that the mystery behind the ownership and the people behind the controversial SUV with Number 7 protocol plate on EDSA Busway is already solved,” ayon kay Assec Mendoza sa isang press briefing sa LTO Central Office sa Quezon City.

“We were contacted yesterday (November 5) and they informed us that they will show up to take full responsibility for that incident,” dagdag niya.

Sinabi ni Assec Mendoza na agad nilang inaksyunan ang insidente matapos mag-viral sa social media ang video ng paglabag at sinimulan ito sa pamamagitan ng pagsuri sa lahat ng Cadillac Escalade sa bansa na humigit-kumulang 100 unit.

Ang bilang gayunpaman, ay lumiit sa mas mababa sa 20 batay sa resulta ng paghahanap sa LTO system sa puting Cadillac Escalade.

Sa press conference, kinumpiska ng LTO ang lisensya ng driver na si Edpan at naglabas ng traffic violation ticket laban sa kanya.

NAPILI si Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval para tumanggal ng pristihiyosong “Most Influential Filipina Woman in the World” award mula sa Foundation for Filipina Women’s Network (FWN).

Si Sandoval ay pinarangalan sa Awards Gala Ceremony, ang highlight ng 20th Filipina Leadership Global Summit, na ginanap sa Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park sa Sydney, Australia, mula October 27 to 31, 2024.

Ang 2024 Summit’s theme “Femtech Futures: AI & Tech,” ay ipinagdiriwang ang kababaihan na mga ninuno ng Pilipinas na nagbabago ng pamumuno sa global workplace. Si Sandoval ay napili mula sa isang natatanging larangan ng mga nominado para sa kanyang mga natatanging kontribusyon bilang isang babaeng negosyante at public service.
