THE iconic superheroes Sharkboy and Lavagirl are back!
After the fifteen years that passed since we last saw them, the two imaginary superheroes have turned into parents!
Netflix has just revealed first-look photos of their super-family in the upcoming film We Can Be Heroes. It is a spinoff to the 2005 film The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.
The first movie ended with a sweet note as the two often-quarreling superheroes made amends and even showed special affection for each other. But while we ex- pected that the relationship moved forward from there, what we didn’t see coming is that we’ll actually see them again one day as adults!
Taylor Dooley reprises her role as Lavagirl while Sharkboy, previously played by Taylor Lautner, will now be played by JJ Dashnaw. Their child, who has both shark and lava powers, is played by Vivien Lyra Blair of Bird Box.
But while we’re thrilled to see the two characters again, it looks like we’ll be seeing a new generation of supers in this film.
Here’s Netflix’s synopsis:
“When alien invaders kidnap Earth’s superheroes, their children must team up and learn to work together if they want to save their parents and the world.”
Robert Rodriguez returns to direct the We Can Be Heroes. The cast also includes Pedro Pascal, Priyanka Chopra, Christian Slater, Boyd Holbrook, and Sung Kang.
It is set for a global release on Netflix on January 1, 2021. (ROHN ROMULO)
