Sunog sa Paco, Maynila: 1 patay

Isang babae ang nasawi nang maipit sa kaniyang nagliliyab na bahay sa sunog na naganap isang residential area sa Paco, Maynila dulot umano ng napabayaang rice cooker, kahapon ng madaling araw.

Inisyal na kinilala ang nasawi na si Loida Reyes Delayman, 54, ng Interior 29 Gomez Street, Brgy. 823 Paco, ng naturang lungsod. Isa pang babae na inaalam pa ang pagkakakilanlan ang nasugatan sa insidente at agad na isinugod sa pagamutan.

Sa ulat ng Bureau of Fire Protection-Manila, dakong alas-4:30 ng madaling araw nang mag-umpisa ang sunog sa bahay ng pamilya Delayman na agad na itinaas sa unang alarma dahil sa biglaang pagkalat nito sa buong bahay.

Nahirapang maapula ng mga rumespondeng bumbero ang apoy dahil sa makitid na daan sa looban kung saan nakatirik ang bahay. Dahil din sa gawa sa light materials, naitaas sa ikaapat na alarma ang apoy dakong alas-5:25 ng madaling araw.

Tumagal pa hanggang alas-7:28 ng umaga bago tuluyang maapula at mapigilan ang pagkalat ng apoy saka sinundan ng pagdedeklara ng fire-out dakong alas-8:50 na ng umaga.

Sa isinagawang mopping operation, nadiskubre ang bangkay ni Delayman sa loob ng natupok nilang bahay nang hindi na niya magawang makalabas.

Sa pahayag ng BFP, nasa 50 bahay ang nadamay kung saan nakatira ang higit sa 100 pamilya at aabot sa higit-kumulang P500,000 ang halaga ng pinsala. (GENE ADSUARA)

Yorme Isko Moreno naglunsad ng no-contact traffic apprehension scheme sa Maynila

Naglunsad ng no-contact traffic apprehension si Mayor Isko Moreno na ipatutupad sa mga pangunahing lansangan sa lungsod ng Maynila na ginawa sa intersection ng President Quirino Avenue at Taft Avenue noong nakaraang Dec.9.

Nagbigay ng babala si Moreno sa lahat ng motorista na magmaneho ng ligtas at kapag nahuli sila sa mga surveillance cameras na kanilang inilagay ay magbabayad sila ng traffic fines.

“With the use of HD (high definitation) cameras, traffic violators will be caught and identified even at night time,” wika ni Moreno.

Ayon kay Moreno maraming mga problema sa trapiko ang laging hinaharap ng mga miyembro ng Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) sa kanilang pagpapatupad ng traffic at safety rules sa lungsod ng Manila.

Mayroon higit kumulang na kalahating milyon na mga sasakyan ang dumadaan araw-araw sa Manila.

“Operational digitalization is key to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the city. Our traffic enforcement system is by far the most modern adopted in the Philippines. We are using HD cameras with signature laser tracking technologies installed in key locations in the city to detect traffic violators,” dagdag ni Moreno.

Tuluy-tuloy ang pagpapatupad ng no-contact scheme works. Kung may mahuling motorista, ang camera ay kukunin ang license plate number ng sasakyan at ang information ay dadalahin sa MTPB at ipoproseso naman ang information na galing sa Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Ang MTPB naman ay rerepasuhin ang video ng violation at ipapadala ang Notice of Violation sa registered owner ng sasakyan. Kung may disputes sa mga detalye na nakalagay sa mga notices, ang Manila Traffic Adjudication Board ang siyang magsasagawa ng hearing.

Sinabi rin ni Moreno na ang mga makokolektang multa ay pupunta derecho sa city’s treasury upang gamitin sa welfare program ng lungsod.

Ang mga traffic fines at penalties ay maaaring bayaran sa MTPB o di kaya sa mga designated banks at remittance centers.

“Traffic violators cannot ignore the city’s notices as non-payment of traffic violation fines would disallow violators from renewing their vehicles’ registration with the LTO,” dagdag ni Moreno. (LASACMAR)

10 official entries for MMFF 2020: How to watch online

The complete list of Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2020 official entries has been revealed, all available online through streaming beginning Christmas Day, December 25.

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the annual MMFF will still push through. Pinoy movie fanatics will get to enjoy this year’s MMFF offerings following the new normal.

The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Danilo Lim earlier said that the annual showcase of Filipino movies will continue because they wish for Pinoys to still feel the Christmas season amid the health crisis. This time, they will cater to a much bigger audience as they try to reach Filipinos all over the world by offering the movies via digital screening.

“The film industry continues to grapple with the effects of COVID-19 but it should not dampen the Filipinos’ spirit of watching Filipino movies during the Christmas season. This year, we are bringing the MMFF tradition in every Filipino home not just here in the country but all over the world via digital screening for the first time,” he said.

Here are the 10 official entries for MMFF 2020

1. MAGIKLAND

The film, a fantasy-adventure genre, was produced by the late veteran filmmaker Peque Gallaga. It was directed by Christian Acuna and includes Antoinette Jadaone, Irene Villamor, Rod C. Marmol, Pat Apura, and Devein Baltazar as scriptwriters.

COMING HOME

A family drama film with lead stars Sylvia Sanchez and Jinggoy Estrada. It also includes Martin del Rosario, Edgar Allan Guzman, Shaira Diaz, Ariella Arida, Jake Ejercito. The movie is directed by Adolf Alix, Jr.
THE MISSING
This is the only horror film this year. It stars Ritz Azul, Joseph Marco, Miles Ocampo under the direction of Easy Ferrer.
TAGPUAN
A romance-drama directed by McArthur Alejandre. Lead actors are Shaina Magdayao, Iza Calzado and Alfred Vargas.
ISA PANG BAHAGHARI
A family drama film starring veteran actors Nora Aunor, Phillip Salvador and Michael De Mesa. It also stars Zanjoe Marudo, Joseph Marco and Sanya Lopez. The film is directed by Joel C. Lamangan.
MANG KEPWENG: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim

Following the other Mang Kepweng films, it will bring laughter with adventure and fantasy to its viewers. This time, Vhong Navarro pairs with Barbie Imperial.

PAKBOYS: TAKUSA
Another comedy film starring Dennis Padilla, Andrew E., Janno Gibbs, Angelu de Leon, Maui Taylor, Ana Roces, Jerald Napoles. It is under the direction of Al Tantay.

8. SUAREZ: THE HEALING PRIEST

This is a biopic of the late Fr. Fernando Suarez to be portrayed by John Arcilla. It is directed by Joven Tan.
THE BOY FORETOLD BY THE STARS
This romantic-comedy film follows the popular BL or Boys Love trend. It stars Adrian Lindayag and Keann Johnson and directed by Dolly Dulu.
FANGIRL
The film is a coming-of-age drama where a teen girl meets her celebrity crush and learns about his flaws. The film stars Charlie Dizon and Paulo Avelino and is directed by blockbuster director Antoinette Jadaone.

The yearly Christmas film festival will take place from December 25, 2020 to January 8, 2021.

MMFF has partnered with Globe and Upstream to deliver streaming of 10 official entries.

Viewers can purchase virtual tickets through Globe’s GMovies, at the cost of P250 per film. Payment options are GCash and credit card.

MVP hinirang na Sports Tourism Personality of the Year

Dahil sa kanyang mahalagang kontribusyon sa larangan ng isports ay kinilala si businessman/sports patron Manuel V. Pangilinan o mas kilala sa tawag na “MVP” bilang Sports Tourism Personality of the Year sa 4th Philippine Sports Tourism Awards na ginanap kamakailan sa Clark Freeport.

Bilang presidente ng Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) ay tinatag ni Pangilinan ang MVP Sports Foundation na tumutulong sa paghubog ng mga world-class athletes.

Pinuri ni Pangilinan ang misyon ng Philippine Sports Tourism Awards para patuloy na maitaas ang sports bilang isa sa pangunahing tagapagtaguyod ng turismo sa bansa.

“The unquantifiable benefits alone make strong case for investing in sports. But today, we are recognizing a more direct and tangible benefit — how sports could encourage tourism, and how it might eventually serve as a catalyst for economies, both local and national,” ani Pangilinan sa kanyang acceptance speech.

“This award is not a culmination of the work we’ve rendered, but a mandate to push the envelope. Sports remains a high-potential investment for our country, and I consider it an honor to be able to continue supporting its development. We can improve our sporting landscape for the benefit of our athletes and, ultimately, for that of the greater Philippine nation,” dagdag nito.

Sa pamumuno ni Pangilinan ay malaki ang naitulong ng PLDT at Smart bilang mga official telecom partners sa nakaraang 30th Southeast Asian Games noong Disyembre.

Bagama’t ilang sports activities lamang ang naisagawa ngayong taon dahil sa pandemya na nakaapekto sa sports tourism ay marami nang nakatakdang international sporting events sa bansa sa mga susunod na taon.

Isa rito ay ang FIBA World Cup sa 2023 na ipinursige ni Pangilinan na mapamahalaan ng bansa kasama ang Japan at Indonesia bilang mga co-hosts.

Buwanang pensiyon sa mga PWDs lusot na

Lusot na sa Special Committee on Persons With Disabilities ang panukala na magkakaloob ng buwanang pensiyon sa mga kababayang may kapansanan o persons with disablity (PWDs).

Sa ilalim ng House Bill 7571 na inihain ni Bohol Rep. Alexie Tutor, layon dito na magtatag ng Social Pension Program sa ilalim ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) at matulungan ang mga may kapansanan na lubhang apektado ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Sa programang ito, ginagarantiya na ang lahat ng mga rehistradong PWDs ay mabibigyan ng social pension na P1,000 kada buwan.

Maaaring ipamahagi ang pensyon ng mga PWDs ng quarterly, semiannually o annually.

Isinusulong din ng panukala ang pagbuo ng National Registry for PWDs na magiging basehan para sa special PWD classification ng Philippine Identification System.

Isasama rin ang mga PWDs bilang benepisyaryo ng microfinance, microinsurance at microenterprise programs at projects ng pamahalaan nang sa gayon ay mabigyan ng hanapbuhay ang nasabing sektor. (ARA ROMERO)

Navotas nagkaloob ng tax refund

Nagbigay ng tax refund ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Navotas sa mga nagkaroon ng karagdagang multa dahil sa huling pagbabayad matapos na dalawang beses nang magbigay ng palugit para sa pagbabayad ng lokal na buwis.

Nilagdaan ni Mayor Toby Tiangco ang City Ordinance 2020-45 na nagkakaloob ng tax refund sa mga taxpayers na nagbayad ng surcharges, penalties at interes sa lahat ng lokal na buwis at bayarin na due at na-assess noong Setyembre September 14, 2020 hanggang sa petsa ng pagiging epektibo ng ordinansa.

“Most of our constituents are still reeling from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to ease their burden and help them in every possible way,” ani Tiangco.

Ang mga taxpayers na may makukuhang tax refund ay maaaring makipag-ugnayan sa City Treasurer’s Office sa ikalawang palapag ng Navotas City Hall.

Ang City Ordinance 2020-45 ay alinsunod sa Department of Finance Circular No. 003-2020, kung saan nakasaad na “payment of all local taxes, fees and charges falling on or after September 14, 2020 shall be extended until December 19, 2020 without interest, surcharge or penalty.

Nauna rito, ipinasa sa Navotas ang City Ordinance No. 2020-25 at 2020-35 na nagpapaliban sa pagbabayad ng real property tax, business tax, at transfer tax. (Richard Mesa)

Pakiusap ng malakanyang sa publiko, hintayin ang guidelines sa pagbabalik ng provincial buses na point-to-point routes

NAKIUSAP ang Malakanyang sa publiko na hintayin na lang muna ang guidelines na ilalabas ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) at Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ukol sa pagbabalik ng provincial buses na point-to-point routes bago pa mag-isip na bumiyahe.

“Hintayin lang po natin ang guidelines na ilalabas ng DOTr (Department of Transportation) at LTFRB ukol dito,”ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Nauna rito, inaprubahan nina Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte at ng kanyang gabinete ang pagbabalik ng provincial buses na point-to-point routes.

Layon kasi ng pamahalaan na mas palawakin pa ang muling pagbubukas ng ekonomiya matapos na manamlay dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic.

Nagpulong kasi sina Pangulong Duterte at ang mga miyembro ng gabinete, araw ng Lunes kung saan napagkayarian na payagan na ang “provincial buses in point-to-point routes na inaprubahan ng LTFRB at local government unit ng destinasyon kabilang na ang stop-over/transit terminals,” na magbalik operasyon, ayon sa inter-agency task force against COVID-19.

“Point-to-point provincial buses shall be allowed unhampered passage through the different LGUs en route to the LGU of destination,” ang nakasaad sa kalatas ng task force.

Matatandaang, sinuspinde ng mga awtoridad noong Marso ang lahat ng mode ng public transport.

Kamakailan ay pinaluwag naman ng mga miyembro ng gabinete ang transport restrictions, bilang paghahanda sa pagbubukas ng ekonomiya matapos ang ilang buwan na naka-lockdown ang iba’t ibang lugar sa bansa dahil sa pandemiya. (Daris Jose)

Pagsusuot ng face mask at face shield, required na

REQUIRED na ngayon ang mga mamamayang Filipino na magsuot ng face masks at face shields kahit saan man sila magpunta o sa oras na lumabas na sila ng kanilang bahay.

Layon kasi ng pamahalaan na pabagalin ang pagkalat ng COVID-19 ngayong holiday season.

Ang anunsyong ito ni Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque ay matapos magpulong ang policy-making Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

Ipinag-utos ng Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases o IATF ang “mandatory” na pagsuot ng full-coverage face shield at face mask sa publiko sa tuwing lalabas ng kanilang mga bahay. Ito’y para maiwasan ang hawaan ng Covid-19.

Matatandaang, ang ni-require lamang ng pamahalaan ay ang pagsusuot ng face shields sa loob ng establisimyento.

Samantala, hinikayat ng OCTA Research ang national at local governments na magtulungan para malimitahan ang pagkalat ng virus sa pamamagitan ng pagpapataas ng “testing, contact tracing, isolation and quarantine,” at implementasyon ng “small, targeted lockdowns para ma contain ang “super-spreading events” sa komunidad.

Umapela rin ito sa publiko na iwasan ang matatao at enclosed areas at umiwas sa pagsali o pag-organisa ng social gatherings ngayong Christmas season. (Daris Jose)
