COVID-19 tumaas ng 36 percent – DOH

PATULOY ang pagtaas ng mga kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa makaraang makapagtala ang Department of Health (DOH) ng 1,821 bagong kaso mula Disyembre 5 hanggang 11.

Ito ay mas mataas ng 36 percent kung ikukumpara sa mga kasong naitala noong Nobyembre 28 hanggang Disyembre 4.

Sa national COVID-18 case bulletin, nasa 260 na ang average na bilang ng bagong kaso kada araw ngayong linggo.

Sa mga bagong kaso, 13 ang may malubha at kritikal na karamdaman habang 13 na ang pumanaw, kabilang ang anim na naganap noong Nobyembre 28 hanggang Disyembre 11.

Noong Disyembre 10, 2023, mayroong 228 na malubha at kritikal na pasyente na naka-admit sa mga ospital sa buong bansa dahil sa COVID-19.

Pinaalalahanan ng DOH ang lahat na huwag maging kampante sa banta ng COVID-19 at boluntaryong magsuot ng face mask para makaiwas maging sa ibang sakit.

PBBM, ipinag-utos ang pagkumpleto sa water-related projects sa April 2024

SINABI ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na ipinag-utos niya sa mga kinauukulang ahensiya ng gobyerno na kompletuhin ang water-related projects sa April 2024 bilang paghahanda para sa epekto ng El Niño phenomenon.

Sa isinagawang ina inagurasyon ng Balbalungao Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (BSRIP) sa Lupao, Nueva Ecija, winika ng Pangulo ang pamgangailangan na tiyakin na ang bansa ay handa sa posibleng epekto ng El Niño, kabilang na ang pagbawas sa pag-ulan at tag-tuyot.

“We must be prepared to counter these effects, which may last until the second quarter of 2024. So, we remind once again the DA (Department of Agriculture) and the NIA (National Irrigation Administration) to immediately complete the construction of irrigation facilities, as well as other supporting structures based on the needs of our farmers,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos.

“Iniisip ko ‘yung mga project na gagawin natin. Meron tayong apat na buwan para tapusin lahat iyan, maging operational lahat iyan dahil ang ginawa kong deadline para sa ating mga departamento, ‘ika ko sa kanila, ang isipin natin, ano ba ang kaya nating matapos by April of next year,” dagdag na wika nito.

Ang mga pangunahing proyekto gaya ng BSRIP, ay makatutulong na tugunan ang epekto ng El Niño, na maaaring maging dahilan ng kakapusan sa water at power supply.

“The BSRIP, boasting an expansive 840-hectare service area, is designed to foster sustainable development for the benefit of 562 farmers and their families residing in Balbalungao, San Isidro, Salvacion, Sto. Niño, and Mapampang villages in Lupao town,” ayon sa ulat.

Winika pa ni Pangulong Marcos na ang konstruksyon ng Balbalungao Dam ay nagpapahiwatig ng commitment ng administrasyon para i-develop ang modern infrastructure systems na makapagpapalakas sa agriculture sector.

“Once fully operational, this multi-purpose dam will provide irrigation for close to 1,000 hectares of agricultural land,” aniya pa rin sabay sabing “The dam will generate diversified income opportunities to increase crop use, fish culture, tourism, and watershed management for environmental protection.”

Sa kabilang dako, binigyang-diin naman ni Pangulo Marcos na mapabibiilis ng BSRIP ang hydroelectric power generation at nagsilbi bilang flood control mitigation infrastructure para sa mga komunidad sa tabi ng ilog.

Inatasan naman nito ang DA at NIA na tiyakin ang napapanahong pagkompleto sa ibang pasilidad ng BSRIP, gaya ng hydropower at watershed components.

Ipinag-utos naman ng Pangulo sa lahat ng ahensiya ng pamahalaan, local government units, at pribadong sektor na magtulungan upang matiyak ang “sustainability” ng water resources at ang ecosystem na nakapalibot sa reservoir.

“That integrated watershed management plan serves as your guide in monitoring, protecting, and conserving the Balbalungao water shed to prolong the land’s service lifestyle,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos.

“Anticipating the success of the BSRIP in transforming the province’s land into a thriving hub of productivity, we remain steadfast in our pursuit of food security, poverty reduction, and economic growth,” aniya pa rin.

Ang gobyerno aniya ay naglalayong i-establish ang mahigit sa 275,000 ektarya ng bagong irrigation areas para i- restore ang 80,000 ng umiiral na irrigation areas sa 2028.

“As we envision a more secure, sustainable, and resilient Philippines, let us harmonize our efforts to ensure the continued empowerment of our producers, progress for our industries, and advancement for the entire country,” aniya pa rin. (Daris Jose)

Experience the Magic of ‘Wonka’ with Timothée Chalamet, Hugh Grant, and Rowan Atkinson

DIRECTOR Paul King, the visionary behind Wonka couldn’t have been happier with the cast he assembled for this sugary tale led by the charismatic Timothée Chalamet.

He shares, “I felt so blessed to have been able to assemble this cast,” says King of the talented group of actors and actresses he got to work with in “Wonka,” led by Timothée Chalamet in the title role.

“There were so many extraordinary people who were prepared to come and work with me. It felt like every time I asked whether somebody would be willing to do it and they said ‘yes,’ I felt like the kid in the candy store.”

One of the people who said yes to King was a hero of his, Mr. Bean himself, Rowan Atkinson.

“Rowan is one of my longtime comedy heroes and it was an honor and delight to work with him,” says King. “He plays a priest at the city cathedral [it’s not his first time in clerical attire] and he has to answer a phone with the words “Hello, pulpit!” It’s the sort of line only Rowan could deliver!

Another role King felt only one person could portray according to his imagination was that of the Oompa Loompa. According to King, the only voice that came to his head every time he came across the Oompa Loompas while reading Roald Dahl’s classic belonged to that of another ’90s favorite: Hugh Grant.

“Paul and I were always in contact vaguely since ‘Paddington 2,’ and then I think he just emailed me one day and said he was doing ‘Wonka,’” shares Grant about how his “Paddington 2” director offered him a role in “Wonka.”

“He has been nuts about Roald Dahl since he was a kid, in exactly the same way that he was obsessed with Michael Bond and ‘Paddington,’ ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ was one of his favorite books. And then he explained how much he loved the Oompa Loompas in those early films, particularly for being so unpleasant. And he said, ‘Whenever I think of someone really curmudgeonly and unpleasant, I immediately think of you.’ And so that was his pitch.”

To create his version of the iconic Oompa Loompas, Grant “ended up reading the book and watching the earlier films,” shares the actor. “And then I thought, ‘How do we make this different?’ But I definitely thought the key was to keep the sort of negativity and anger, the curmudgeonly old bastard element of the Oompa Loompa. This is my speciality. The Oompa Loompa in this film is propelled by those things, but also by a sort of sadness and a kind of loneliness. He’s been ostracized, chucked out of his homeland and his home tribe for letting them down. And he’s on a mission to try and win back their favors.”

‘Dear Heart’ concert, baka huli na nilang pagsasama: SHARON, pinagdiinan na ‘di sila nagkabalikan ni GABBY

Ayon naman sa mga komento ng netizens parang itinuturo ni Sharon ang kanyang asawa na si Kiko Pangilinan.

Ayon kasi post ng dating Senador sa IG account niya na may larawan siyang nakaupo sa high chair at ang caption ay, “Kapag pagod ka na kakatayo at kakasalita maghapon sa mga speaking engagement pero hindi maaaring palampasin ang Open Forum at Q&A (lalo na kapag mabibigat ang mga katanungan ng mga kabataan).”

May post naman si Sharon ng, “May you soon meet the reason why the universe did not allow you to settle.

Nagsimula raw ang isyu sa mag-asawa dahil sa mga sweet moments at tuksuhan nina Sharon at Gabby Concepcion sa ginanap na “Dear Heart” concert nila sa MOA Arena at sa Cebu.

May nag-iisip tuloy na kanilang supporters na baka nagkabalikan na ang ex-couple.

Kaya naman may mahabang sagot si Sharon na hindi sila nagkabalikan ni Gabby.

“Oooooookay everyone. Please ‘listen.’ I understand that so very many of you Sharon-Gabby fans are thinking, or hoping that we are ‘back together’ in some way or another,” panimula ng isa sa bida ng ‘Family of Two’ ng CineKo Productions.

“Reality check: We have not been in touch since our last concert, we do not talk, text, see each other. We are living totally separate lives and whatever has been going on in mine, he has absolutely nothing to do with, and vice-versa.

“I know that the concerts brought all of you back to happier times, but there IS a reason why we have not gotten back together since we broke up in 1987. He is my eldest daughter’s Papa and so, he will always be a part of my life and history but that’s about it.

“We just couldn’t, cannot live together because we have very, very little in common.”

“Now to those who may be reading this who apparently like bashing and hurting my children, please do not include them they are basically private people, KIDS pa, and do not deserve all of your negativity.

Naging emosyonal sa pagtanggap ng ‘Aliw Awards’: PIOLO, umaasang susuportahan ng mga Pinoy ang ten entries sa ‘MMFF 2023’

NAGING emosyonal nga ang bida ng ‘Mallari’ na si Piolo Pascual sa natanggap niyang parangal sa katatapos lang na 36th Aliw Awards.

Ang premyadong actor kasi ang tinanghal na “Best Lead Actor in Musical” para sa kanyang mahusay na pagganap sa musical play na “Ibarra.”

Sa interview ng ABS-CBN entertainment reporter na si Ganiel Krishnan, bigla ngang naiyak si Papa P sa labis na kaligayahan.

Say niya, “‘Di ko alam eh, forever ko iki-keep ‘yung ganitong recognition because, you know, I’m an actor.”

“First and foremost, to be doing something like this, something out of the box, something out of my comfort zone, parang na-push ‘yung sarili ko para ma-challenge ko ‘yung sarili ko.”

Dagdag pa niya, “Hindi natin liga ang teatro, pero I started out in theater. To be named entertainer of the year, it just only means na your hardwork has paid off.”

“Wala ho akong ipagyayabang, pero forever akong magiging humble sa lahat ng natatamasa natin and I’m just really thankful to the Lord for taking us this far,” pahayag pa niya.

Nabanggit din ng aktor na willing siyang magbalik-teatro sakaling maooperan uli siya ng magandang role.

Next year ay magiging busy pa rin si Piolo dahil may gagawin siyang malaking teleserye sa ABS-CBN at may nalinyang dalawang pelikula.

Samantala, malaking pressure nga kay Piolo ang latest movie na ‘Mallari’ na filmfest entry ng Mentorque Productions sa 49th MMFF, na kung saan tatlong roles ang ginampanan niya, na magkakaiba dahil mula ito sa tatlong henerasyon.

Say nga ni Alessandra de Rossi na bida naman ng ‘Firefly’, sa presscon ng inauguration ng MMFF Auditorium na matatagpuan sa 5th floor ng MMDA Head Office sa Pasig City, “tatlo kasi ang roles ni Piolo sa film.

“Nag-text ako kanya, sabi ko, ‘Papa P, nag-i-expect ako tatlo yun nominations mo sa best actor per role, and hopefully, may isa doon na manalo ka.”

Umaasa naman si Piolo na sana’y suportahan at ma-appreciate ng mga Pinoy ang sampung entries sa MMFF 2023.

“Sabi nga all cards on deck para sana lang talagang ay maibigay ng mga tao ang suporta. We always believe na may chance tayo na maipakita ang ganda ng pelikulang Pilipino.

“Sana ma-appreciate po ng lahat, hindi competition ito, magkakaibigan po kaming lahat, magkaka-contemporary tayo sa industriya so sana po talaga,” pahayag ng aktor sa pinatawag na presscon ng MMDA.

Pahayag naman ni MMDA Acting Chairman and concurrent MMFF Over-all Chairman Don Artes sa MMFF Auditorium, “this is a milestone for the MMFF, a fitting tribute to its almost five-decade success which greatly contributes to Philippine cinema.

“Producing films that have been recognized not just in our country but also internationally.”

Ito rin ang magsisilbing venue for the celebration and promotion ng Filipino artistic talents and creativity.

At bago nga mapanood ang sampung pelikula sa December 25, magkakaroon muna ng ‘Parade of Stars’ sa Saturday, December 16, na babagtas sa four key cities sa CAMANAVA area.

Balita rin na ginastusan ng husto ng producer ng ‘Mallari’ ang kanilang magarang karosa, na kung saan may aircon ito at cr ito sa unang palapag, para maging komportable ang cast na sasama sa parada ng mga bituin.

Pagdinig sa resulta ng Motorcycle (MC) Taxi Pilot Study, isinagawa

NAGPULONG nitong Martes ang Komite ng Transportasyon na pinamumunuan ni Antipolo City Rep. Romeo Acop upang dinggin ang resulta ng Motorcycle (MC) Taxi Pilot Study mula sa Department of Transportation (DOTr) at Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Isinalaysay ni Acop na nagsimula ang pag-aaral noong 2017 bilang anim na buwang programa para sa operasyon ng aabot sa 27,000 motorcycle taxis sa Metro Manila.

Ang pilot study ay opisyal na nagsimula noong 2019 kasama ang Angkas, MoveIt at Joyride bilang mga kalahok.

Iniulat ni LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II na ang pilot study ay patuloy pa rin, kung saan ang University of the Philippines (UP) – National Center for Transportation Studies ay nagsasagawa ng masusing pagsusuri sa kapasidad sa merkado ng mga MC taxi.

Ayon kay ASec. Mendoza, isasaalang-alang ng pagsusuri ang epekto ng mga bagong kalahok sa programa, katulad ng Cloud Panda, Taxi Philippines Inc., E-PickMeUp Inc., Easyway Transport Service, Para Express Technology Services, Grab Philippines at Market Innovators Inc. Sa kaniyang pagtantiya, matatapos ang pinal na ulat sa loob ng 60 hanggang 90 araw.

“Because of the need for further in-depth study specifically for the market capacity, as well as the results of the entry of new participants to the program, the TWG is asking for an extension of the program until such time that the committee is ready to pass a bill related to the operations of MC taxis,” tanong ni ASec. Mendoza.

Hinimok ni Bulacan Rep. Augustina Dominique Pancho ang LTO na isama ang Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) sa patuloy na pag-aaral dahil sila ay maaapektuhan kapag ang bagong paraan ng transportasyon ay magagamit na sa publiko.

Hiniling din ng Komite na isama sa pag-aaral ang epekto ng mga MC taxi sa ibang mga negosyo sa transportasyon.

Inaprubahan din ng Komite ang mga sumusunod na lokal na panukalang batas: House Bills 9416, 9433, at 9546, na naglalayong magtatag ng mga tanggapan ng LTO sa distrito ng Maayon Capiz, at Ticao Island Masbate, ayon sa pagkakasunod. (Ara Romero)

“Bagong Bahay, Bagong Buhay!” Valenzuela LGU nag turnover ng housing units sa Laon beneficiaries

NAGSAGAWA ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Valenzuela, sa pakikipagtulungan ng Social Housing and Finance Corporation (SFHC) ng blessing at turnover ceremonies ng mga housing unit sa ilalim ng Laon CMP Vertical Housing Project – Phase I para sa mga benepisyaryo ng Laon sa Barangay Veinte Reales.

Pinangunahan nina Mayor Wes Gatchalian, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Undersecretary Lyle Filomeon Pasco, Social Housing and Finance Corporation (SHFC) President Federico Laxa, mga opisyal ng lungsod, at mga barangay opisyal ng Veinte Reales ang ribbon-cutting ceremony at pag turnover ng 192 housing units sa loob ng 4 na gusali ng Laon Community Mortgage Program (CMP) Vertical Housing Project sa ilalim ng isang mortgage agreement.

Kasunod ng turnover ng mga housing unit ay ang groundbreaking at capsule-laying ceremony para sa CMP Vertical Housing Project – Phase II at 3S Center Veinte Reales na magtatampok ng Barangay Hall, Police Sub-station, Daycare Center, Mega Health Station, HOA office, Basketball Court.

Sa kanyang mensahe, ibinahagi ni DSWD Secretary Gatchalian ang mahigpit na paglalakbay ng Laon Housing Project sa kanyang termino bilang mayor, kung saan unang sinimulan ang proyekto.

Ayon sa kanya, ipinagmamalaki ng proyektong ito ang tatlong inobasyon: una, ang komunidad ng Laon ay may dalawang (2) Home Owner’s Associations (Laon HOA & Cheng Ville HOA); pangalawa, mayroong dalawang sukat ng mga yunit ng pabahay (36 sq.m. & 42 sq.m); at panghuli, ang lokal na pamahalaan at komunidad ng Laon ay magkatuwang na hahawak sa pamamahala ng ari-arian.

Samantala, ipinahayag din ni Mayor Wes ang kanyang umaasang pananaw sa pagpapatuloy ng Phase II ng Laon CMP Vertical Housing Project.

“[Sa tagumpay ng Phase I] sa tulong ng SHFC, ng DHSUD, at pagtutulungan ng national at local, at siyempre ng Home Owners’ Association; natupad na ang pangarap ng ating mga kababayan dito sa Veinte Reales. At hindi puwedeng hindi tumuloy ito.” ani alkalde.

Sa background, ang mga residente ng Laon ay nabubuhay sa panganib sa mga nakaraang taon dahil sa baha at madaling masunog na kapaligiran kaya idineklara ng Office of the Building Official (OBO) ang mga bahay sa Laon na mga ilegal at mapanganib na istruktura na nag-udyok sa lungsod na patayuan ito ng proyektong pabahay. House Bill (HB) 8525, o ang panukalang “Tatak Pinoy Act,” inaprubahan

SA PAGSISIKAP ng Kapulungan na maiahon ang kabuhayan ng sambayanang Pilipino, inaprubahan sa bulwagan na pinamumunuan ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez ngayong Martes sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa, ang anim (6) pang prayoridad na panukala na kabilang sa Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) na common legislative agenda ng administrasyong Marcos.

Nagkakaisang inaprubahan ng Kamara ang House Bill (HB) 8525, o ang panukalang “Tatak Pinoy Act,” na inaprubahan sa pabor na botong 251, na magbabalangkas ng Tatak Pinoy Strategy (TPS), upang pasiglahin ang lokal na kalakalan at ang kanilang ugnayan sa value chains.

Sa botong 251-0-1 naman, inaprubahan ang HB 9648, o ang panukalang “New Government Procurement Reform Act” sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa, na magpapawalang bisa sa Republic Act 9184, o ang “Government Procurement Reform Act.”

Layon ng panukala na gawing mas malinaw ang government procurement, mapagkumpitensya, maayos, tuloy-tuloy at inklusibo.

Ang iba pang mga prayoridad na panukala na inaprubahan sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ay: 1) HB 9662, o ang panukalang “Blue Economy Act,” sa botong 254-3; 2) HB 9663, o ang panukalang “National Water Resources Act,” sa botong 254-3; 3) HB 9673, o ang panukalang “Philippine Cooperative Code of 2023,” sa botong 254-3; at 4) HB 9674, o ang panukalang “Revised Government Auditing Act,” sa botong 258.

Maging handa sa EL NIÑO phenomenon

NANAWAGAN si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa sambayanang Filipino para sa whole-of-nation approach sa paglaban sa epekto ng El Niño phenomenon, inaasahan na magtatagal sa second quarter ng 2024.

Pinaalalahanan naman ng Pangulo ang mga ahensiya ng pamahalaan na bilisan ang pagkumpleto sa mga irrigation facility at iba pang istraktura.

“We must be prepared to counter its effect, which may last until the second quarter of 2024,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos sa kanyang naging talumpati sa inauguration ceremony ng Balbalungao Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (BSRIP) sa Nueva Ecija.

Pinaalalahanan din ng Chief Executive ang Department of Agriculture (DA) at ang National Irrigation Administration (NIA) na agad na kumpletuhin ang konstruksyon ng mga irrigation facility at iba pang supporting structures base sa pangangailangan ng mga magsasakang Filipino na malamang na maapektuhan ng dry spell.

Giit pa ng Pangulo, dapat lamang na magkapit-kamay ang pamahalaan at ang mga mamamayang Filipino sa paghahanda para sa matinding epekto ng El Niño.

Binigyang diin ang pangangailangan na bilisan ang konstruksyon ng mga irrigation project at iba pang proyekto na makatutulong na matugunan ang phenomenon.

Binigyan na aniya niya ang mga ahensiya ng pamahalaan ng deadline para maisakatuparan ang lahat ng El Niño-related mitigation projects.

“Kaya’t itong ganitong klaseng proyekto ay naging mas mahalaga pa at naging mas urgent pa. Kaya’t dahil kakauntin na lang ang ating natitirang panahon … meron tayong apat na buwan para tapusin lahat ‘yan, maging operational na lahat ‘yan,” ayon sa Punong Ehekutibo.

“Dahil ang ginawa kong deadline para sa ating mga departamento ay kako sa kanila, ang isipin natin ano ba ‘yung kaya nating matapos by April of next year, nang sa ganun pagdating – pag Mayo ay nandiyan pa ‘yung tagtuyot at hindi pa umuulan ay mayroon naman tayong sapat na water supply,” dagdag na wika nito.
