Higit 582-M doses ng AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines dumating sa Phl

Karagdagang 582,500 na AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses ang dumating sa Pilipinas ngayong umaga.

Dumating sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Termina 1 ang mga bakunang ito pasado alas-9:25 ng umaga lulan ng isang China Airlines flight.

Ang mga bakunang ito ay binili ng private sector sa pamamagitan ng tripartite agreement sa national government.

Noong nakaraang linggo lang, 575,800 doses ng AstraZeneca COVID-19 jabs na binili ng private sector ang dumating din sa Pilipinas.

Sa kabuuan, aabot na sa mahigit 46 million COVID-19 vaccine doses ang natanggap ng bansa magmula noong Pebrero.

Mahigit 12.8 million inidbidwal naman ang fully vaccinated na kontra COVID-19 hanggang noong Agosto 18, at halos 30 million doses naman ang naituturok na.

Ngayong araw, inaasahan din ng bansa ang pagdating ng 749,200 pang Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses na donasyon naman ng Chinese government. (Gene Adsuara)

New Marvel’s Eternals Poster Re-Confirms November Theatrical Release

MARVEL Studios unveils a new poster for Eternals, offering another look at the titular immortals and re-confirming a November theatrical release.

The upcoming chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will span 7,000 years as the Eternals are created by the Celestial and live on Earth, protecting humanity from the shadows. However when the events of Avengers: Endgame unleashes monstrous creatures known as the Deviants, the team are forced to emerge and reunite in order to defend humanity once again.

Eternals features an ensemble and diverse cast including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Lauren Ridloff as the first deaf superhero in the MCU, Brian Tyree Henry as the first gay superhero in the MCU, Kumail Nanjiani, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie. Development on the film first got underway in early 2018 when Ryan and Matthew K. Firpo were hired to pen the script and Oscar winner Chloé Zhao signed on to direct and re-write with Patrick Burleigh later that year. Production got underway on Eternals in mid-2019 and after seeing multiple release delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic seems to have finally landed on a set premiere date.

On the heels of unveiling the final trailer for the film, Marvel Studios has unveiled a new poster for Eternals. In addition to offering a new look at the titular hero family, the poster also re-confirms the film will premiere exclusively in theaters in November. Check out the glorious new poster below:

Following the hybrid release of Black Widow and the lawsuit between Scarlett Johansson and Disney over said model, there has been a lot of uncertainty regarding upcoming theatrical releases for the MCU. House of Mouse CEO Bob Chapek stirred up the pot earlier this month by describing the exclusive theatrical release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings an “experiment” amidst Delta variant spikes around the country and while Marvel head Kevin Feige has confirmed his desire to see Eternals receive a sole theatrical release, he nonetheless noted they would have to wait and see how to move forward. With studio insiders stirring up buzz that a decision will have to be made regarding the film’s theatrical exclusivity in September, it proves interesting to see the poster and Twitter account re-confirming its November release.

Given films such as No Time to Die are electing to maintain their release position due to the money it would cost to expand their marketing campaign for another delayed date, it is understandable that Marvel may want to leave Eternals in November for this reason. Additionally, with the majority of MCU releases scheduled specifically to expand the overall franchise in sequential steps, another delay seems out of the question for the film. Only time will tell what the future holds for Eternals.

PTFoMS, hiniling sa PNP na imbestigahang mabuti ang pagpatay sa dating journalist na si Gwenn Salamida

HINILING ng Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) sa Philippine National Police (PNP) na masusing imbestigahan ang pagpatay sa dating journalist Gwenn Salamida nitong nakaraang araw ng Martes.

Sinabi ni PTFoMS Executive Director Undersecretary Joel Sy Egco, na bagama’t walang kinalaman o kaugnayan ang motibo ng pagpatay kay Salamida sa kanyang dating journalism career, kailangan pa rin na lumabas ang katotohanan para sa kapakanan ng kanyang pamilya kabilang na ang dalawa nitong anak na babae.

Si Salamida ay 41 taong gulang na sana matapos ang krimen.

“This is personal, Gwenn is a good friend and a former colleague. Those who are behind this cowardly act picked the wrong victim and they will pay dearly for it. We have already directed law enforcement agencies to use all available resources to hunt down and bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous crime,” ayon kay Egco.

Sa ulat, binaril at napatay ng holdaper ang isang dating mamamahayag at may-ari na ngayon ng salon sa Quezon City.

Ayon sa Quezon City Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, pinasok ng salarin ang salon na pag-aari ni Salamida sa Barangay Apolonio Samson dakong 3:00 pm.

Nanlaban umano si Salamida at binaril ng salarin.

Isang kasamahan din ni Salamida ang nasugatan.

Tumakas ang salarin sakay ng motorsiklo, at inaalam pa kung may natangay siya mula sa biktima.

Napag-alaman na dating editor ng Remate si Salamida, at nagtrabaho rin sa isa pang tabloid.

Samantala, habang papalapit na ang election season, pinaalalahanan ni Egco ang kasalukuyan at dating miyembo ng media na mag-ingat dahil maaari silang maging target ng kanilang mga kaaway sa press freedom.

Ex-DBM procurement head ‘susi’ sa overpriced face mask, face shield

Hinikayat ni Senate Minority Leader Franklin M. Drilon ang nagbitiw na si dating Budget Undersecretary Lloyd Christopher Lao na isiwalat ang mga nalalaman sa overpriced na face mask at face shield na binili ng Department of Health sa pamamagitan ng Procurement Service ng Department of Budget and Management.

Naniniwala si Drilon na si Lao ang “missing link” sa natuklasan ng Commission on Audit na overpriced na mga medical supplies kabilang ang face masks at face shields.

Ayon kay Drilon, dapat gawin ang lahat upang magkaroon ng linaw sa isyu kung saan naglagak ang Department of Health (DOH) ng P42 bilyon sa DBM procurement service subalit kinuwestyon ng COA dahil sa kawalan ng documentary requirement.

“He leaves behind him so many questionable transactions which we will dig into. We will not leave any stone unturned in uncovering what could be a possible overpricing in procurement service,” ani Drilon

Si Lao ang dating pinuno ng procurement service ng DBM na ayon kay Drilon ay nanahimik buhat nang magbitiw sa puwesto noong Hunyo 2021.

Kung totoo umanong nagkaroon ng overpricing ay dapat ipaliwanag ni Lao o posibleng sangkot siya rito.

May posiblidad aniya na umabot sa P1 bilyon ang overpricing sa pagbili ng face mask at face shields.

Ayon kay Drilon, bumili ang DBM-PS ng 113,904,000 piraso ng face mask mula sa iba’t ibang supplier sa mataas na presyo kung saan umabot pa ito sa P27.72 bawat isa.

Ang nasabing halaga ay mataas umano ng P2 hanggang P5 sa suggested retail price (SRP) na inilabas ng DOH.

Nakasaad sa report ng COA na nagkakahalaga naman ng P120 kada piraso ang biniling 1,317,711 face shield ga- yong sa SRP ng DOH ito ay dapat P26 hanggang P50 lamang. (Daris Jose)

50 percent ng target population sa NCR fully vaccinated na vs COVID-19 – MMC

Aabot na sa 50 percent ng eligible population sa Metro Manila ang fully vaccinated na kontra COVID-19, ayon kay Metro Manila Council and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez.

Nasa 70 percent naman ng tinatayang 10 million adult population sa National Capital Region (NCR) ang naturukan ng first dose.

Tuloy-tuloy pa rin aniya ang kanilang pagbabakuna gamit ang 4 million COVID-19 vaccine doses na ibinigay ng national government.

Sa kasagsagan ng enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period sa Metro Manila mula noong Agosto 6 hanggang ngayong Agosto 20, sinabi ni National Task Force against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon na 3.2 million vaccine doses ang naiturok sa rehiyon. (Daris Jose)

KO win target ni Pacquiao

Puntirya ni eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao na masikwat ang matikas na knockout win kay World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas sa kanilang bakbakan sa Linggo (oras sa Maynila) sa T-Mobile Arena sa Las Vegas, Nevada.

Matagal-tagal na ring hindi nakakakuha ng KO win si Pacquiao na ang huli ay noon pang 2018 nang patumbahin nito si Lucas Matthysse sa seventh round.

Aminado si Pacquiao na KO win din ang makapagpapasaya sa milyun-milyong Pilipino sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo na tututok sa laban.

“If there’s a chance for a knockout, then I’ll go for it because that’s what I want to give to the fans,” ani Pacquiao.

Ngunit hindi naman minamaliit ni Pacquiao si Ugas dahil malalim din ang karanasan nito.

Ilalabas ni Pacquiao ang kanyang A-game para makuha ang panalo.

“I’m not underestima-ting Ugas though. He has a lot of experience in boxing and fought in the Olympics. I know I have to be very good to win this fight,” dagdag ng Pinoy champion.

Nagdeklara naman si Ugas na hindi ito papayag na ma-knockout ng ganun-ganun na lamang ni Pacquiao.

Handa si Ugas na ibuhos ang lahat ng naitatago nitong lakas para pigilan ang matinding puwersang ilalatag ng Pinoy pug.

“I’m certain that he cannot knock me out. I’ve done all the preparation over these past six years to get in this position, I’ve hit my stride and I just don’t believe I can be stopped by Manny,” sambit ni Ugas.

Ito ang pinakahihintay na laban ni Ugas sa kanyang boxing career at hangad nito na magkaroon ng magandang resulta upang mas maging maningning ang kanyang pangalan.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity and I’m ready to take advantage of it. We’ve done everything we had to and we’re 100% ready to go Saturday night,” ani Ugas.

Ipinagmalaki ng chief trainer ni Ugas na si Ismael Salas na sanay na ang kanyang bata na lumaban sa mga world-class fighters.

Kabisado na rin nito ang estilo ng mga kaliweteng boxers gaya ni Pacquiao kaya’t hindi na ito magiging problema para kay Ugas.

NAVOTAS NAKAKUHA NG TOP MARK MULA SA COA

SA anim na mgkakasunod na taon, nakamit ng Pamamahalang Lungsod ng Navotas ang pinakamaatas na audit rating mula sa Commission on Audit (COA).

Ibinigay ng COA ang “unmodified opinion” sa presentation ng lungsod 2020 ng financial statements.

Ang Navotas ay nakatanggap ng parehong rating mula pa noong 2016, ang nag-iisang lokal na pamahalaan sa Metro Manila na mayroong naturang record.

Pinuri ni Mayor Toby Tiangco ang depertment of heads at mga empleyado ng pamahalaang lungsod na gumanap nang maayos sa kanilang tungkulin, sa kabila unconventional workingconditions na dala ng coronavirus pandemic.

“The pandemic has forced us to realign most of our funds for COVID response. It was difficult to let go of some planned projects and programs, but we had to prioritize spending on personal protective equipment, relief packs, cash assistance, and other urgent needs,” pahayag niya.

“We had to optimize the use of our meager budget and make sure that we spend our people’s taxes judiciously. Getting the highest COA rating, for six years now, is but an icing on the cake. Our focus remains on giving the best service we could give to every Navoteño,” aniya.

Nagbibigay ang COA ng isang “unmodified opinion” sa public institution na nagpakita ng financial position, financial performance at cash flows sa isang patas na pamamaraan alinsunod sa Philippine Public Sector Accounting Standards. (Richard Mesa)

NCR at Laguna ilalagay sa MECQ simula Agosto 21-31

Inaprubahan ng Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) ang paglalagay sa Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) ang National Capital Region at Laguna simula Agosto 21 hanggang Agosto 31 habang ang Bataan ay nasa MECQ din mula Agosto 23-31.

Sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque na hindi pa rin pinapayagan ang mga indoor at al-fresco dine-in services ganun din ang mga personal care services kabilang ang beauty salons, beauty parlors, barbershops at nail spas sa NCR at Bataan.

Lahat ng mga religious gatherings ay mananatiling virtual sa NCR, Bataan at Laguna.

Pinayuhan din ng IATF ang mga nabanggit na local government unit na paigtingin ang kanilang vaccination rates, Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate (PDITR) strategies at patuloy ang pagpatupad ng minimum public health standards. (Daris Jose)

PINAYUHAN ng Malakanyang ang publiko na manatiling kalmado at mangyaring hintayin na lamang ang pinal na report ng Commission on Audit (COA) matapos mapaulat na nakitaan ng komisyon ng ilang umano’y kakulangan sa tamang panghawak ng Department of Health (DoH) sa pondo para sa pandemya.

“‘Yung mga initial observation, nasasagot po iyan ng mga ahensiya .

So, sa ngayon po, ang aking advice, cool muna tayo dahil sa puntong ito ay pupuwedeng sagutin at hintayin ang final reports,” ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Sa ulat ng COA, sinasabing kabilang sa kanilang natuklasan ang higit P5 bilyong halaga ng mga binili ng ahensiya na walang kaukulang dokumento at higit P194 milyon na hindi umano pabor sa gobyerno.

Tinatayang higit P1.45 bilyong donasyon naman ang wala ring sapat na dokumento.

Nasa higit P69 milyon din umanong medical equipment at supplies ang na-procure pero hindi nagamit o hindi agad nagamit dahil sa mga dahilang maiiwasan naman kung nasundan nang maayos ang procurement planning, ayon sa COA.

“This condition affects the utilization of COVID-19 funds vis-a-vis the agency’s implementation capabilities and its response to the urgent healthcare needs during the time of state of calamity/national emergency,” sabi ng COA sa pahayag.

Samantala, ginarantiya naman ni Sec. Roque sa publiko na maayos na ginagamit ng pamahalaan ang public funds lalo na sa gitna ng umiiral na Covid-19 pandemic.

“Walang kaduda-duda, ginagamit sa tama ang pondo kasi iyan ang marching order ng Presidente,” anito.

Pinanindigan din nito ang sinabi ng Pangulo na hindi ito magdadalawang-isip na sibakin ang mga empleyado ng pamahalaan na masasangkot sa irregular activities.

“Hindi siya mag-aatubiling tanggalin kahit sino man kung mayroon pong bahid ng korapsyon,” giit ni Sec. Roque. (Daris Jose)

ARESTADO ang tatlong Chinese national matapos mambugbog at nanutok ng baril sa isang tricycle driver sa Binondo, Maynila

Kinilala ang mga naaresto na sina Jialuo Yan, Jimmy Dy, Benson Tan.

Sa ulat ng Manila police District (MPD), kapwa nakainom ang mga suspek nang matyempuhan ng mga operatiba na binubugbog ang mga biktimang si Edgardo Perez at Domingo Buela sa kahabaan ng Sabino Padilla St. malapit sa kanto ng Ongpin St., Binondo, Maynila

Bukod dito, nanutok pa ng baril si Tan sa mga biktima habang hawak naman ni Yan ang isang gunting .

Binangga pa umano ng minamanehong Mercedenz Benz ni Dy ang tricycle ni Buela dahilan para masugatan ang biktima.

Nakuha sa mga suspek ang FNX-45 Firearms na may sampung bala gayundin nakumpiska rin ang dalawa pang magazine na may lamang 10 at 8 bala.

Ang mga naarestong Chinese na nahaharap sa patung-patong na kaso ay itinurn-over na sa General Assignment and Investigation (GAIS) ng MPD-PS 11. GENE ADSUARA
