COVAX INAPRUBAHAN NA ANG $150-M PARA SA MGA MAHIHIRAP NA BANSA

INAPRUBAHAN na ng GAVI vaccine alliance’s board ang $150 million na pondo para matulungan ang 92 na low and middle income na bansa sa paggawa ng bakuna laban sa coronavirus.

Ang inisyal na pondo ay para makatulong sa COVAX facility sa kanilang operational level at matiyak ang routine immuniza- tion programs sa mga karapat- dapat na mga bansa.

Umaabot na sa 168 na bansa ang sumali kasi sa COVAX global vaccine facility na pinangunahan ng GAVI at World Health Organiza- tion (WHO).

Kabilang dito ang 76 na mayaman o mga self-financing countries.

Target ng COVAX na maka- gawa ng 2 bilyon na bakuna laban sa COVID-19 sa katapusan ng 2021. (Ara Romero)

Julia, okay na after na mabiktima ng fake news na ‘preggy’

SI Julia Barretto ang latest Star Magic talent na lumipat sa Viva Artist Agency.

Sa zoom presscon na ginanap noong Miyerkoles, winika ng dating ABS-CBN star na maganda ang inilatag na career plan ng Viva para sa kanya.

“They laid a very good plan for me and they wanted to help me out. As an actress, I want to seek other options for the advancement of my career,” pahayag pa ni Julia na contract star ng ABS-CBN Star Magic since the start of her career.

Hindi raw naging madali para sa kanya ang desisyon na iwan ang Star Magic. Mahirap daw na decision para sa isang tao ang pagsasara ng chapter sa isang mahalagang bahagi ng kanyang buhay. Pero mananatili raw siyang grateful sa Star Magic heads na sina Mr. Johnny Manahan aT Ms, Mariole Alberto.

“I really took time to think and pray before deciding on my options with regards the direction my career will have to take,” said Julia.

Sabi ng kanyang mommy (Marjorie Barretto) na she is old enough to decide for herself.

“But whenever I have to decide on something, I always think of my mom who had always been very supportive. She had always told me to decide what is best for me and I always heed her advice.”

Para naman sa Viva, they want to make Julia a bigger star than she is now. Malaking artista si Julia at gusto pa nila na mas magningning ang bituin nito. Excited na nga si Julia sa plano ng Viva sa kanya. Bukod sa pelikula, baka gumawa rin siya ng isang online show.

Open din si Julia na makatrababaho ang ibang Viva Artists whom she had not worked with tulad nina Marco Gumabao at Yassi Pressman, just to name a few.

“The transition to Viva was great and exciting. When it comes to working with other Viva artists, hindi naman ako maarte sa kung sino ang makakasama ko. Everything depends on the director, the story and the script. If Viva feels an artist fits a role in a project that I am doing, I will welcome him or her wholeheartedly,” sabi pa ng ex-gf ni Joshua Garcia.

Interesado rin si Julia na gumawa ng more mature roles sa pelikula, something that will present her other side as an actress.

Kahit na na-involve siya sa buntis issue, winika ni Julia na okay naman siya. May maayos daw siyang support group. Nilinaw niya na ilan beses na rin siyang naging biktima ng fake news.

It’s about time daw na protektahan naman niya ang sarili niya sa mga maling balita about her. “It’s about time that I make an action to stop it. It really bothers me if there is fake news, not just for me, but for everybody. I’ve had enough, I should stand up for myself.

It’s about time that I protect myself,” sabi niya. “I am looking at the bright side with this move to Viva. This is a milestone for me. I am more driven and focused.” (RICKY CALDERON)

ORIGINAL ANIME SERIES RESIDENT EVIL: INFINITE DARKNESS, COMING TO NETFLIX IN 2021

KNOWN as the gold standard of survival horror games with over 100 million units from the game series shipped worldwide, “Resident Evil” has now been transformed into a Netflix original CG anime series.

This series is scheduled for a global launch in 2021 exclusively on Netflix. Three years after 2017’s CG film “Resident Evil: Vendetta,” technology has further evolved, creating the groundwork for a new series in unprecedented full 3DCG animation.

Since the first game was re- leased in 1996 on Sony PlayStation, the Resident Evil series is nearing its 25th anniversary. With the series continuing to evolve even now, a new title carves itself into the series’ history. This series is entitled “RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness.”

This new anime series will be produced and supervised by Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who is responsible for bringing numerous titles in the Resident Evil series into existence. TMS Entertainment, which has birthed various anime series, will produce the series, while Quebico, led by Kei Miyamoto, the producer of Resident Evil: Vendetta, will be in charge of the full 3DCG animation production.

This will be an original anime horror-action series based around the stories of the two popular characters, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. By adding suspense into dynamic action scenes, this series will reveal a Resident Evil world unlike anything seen before.

Teaser art and a teaser trailer have also been revealed with the title announcement! In the teaser art, we see Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield against the backdrop of a blood-splattered wall, silently waiting to take on a new threat after cheating death time and time again. Revealed simultaneously, the teaser trailer depicts scenes of courage as Claire enters an abandoned building enveloped by the dark night as she happens to find “something” while Leon saves “someone” in the darkness. You can see every tiny speck of floating dust and the tension of the characters’ expressions in these ultra-realistic, high-quality visuals which ramp up the intensity from the very start! Plug in a pair of headphones to double the terror in this teaser that will surely stir up expectations for this series!

Sale and transfer ng mga tricycle, dapat bang ipatigil na?

MARAMING mga opisyal at drivers ng TODA ang sumangguni sa Lawyers for Commuters Safety and Protection (LCSP) tungkol sa diumano ay mga katiwalian sa ‘sale and transfer’ ng prangkisa ng tricycles.

Nariyan ang doble o higit pang presyo ng pagbebenta ng prangkisa. Sobrang mahal ang pagbenta samantalang sari-sari ang problema. Ganito rin malimit ang problema ng mga bentahan ng prangkisa sa LTFRB kaya minabuti ng Ahensya na ipagbawal na ang ‘sale and transfer’ ng prangkisa.

Isang halimbawa ng sumbong ay tungkol sa isang kapitalista na bumibili ng prangkisa ng mga tricycles. Ang target ay mga operators na gipit o salat sa pera. Bibilhin ng mura at pagkatapos ay ibebenta ng higit sa P200 libung piso! Ang masama pa ay yung bumili habang di pa lubos na naaayos ang bentahan ay ipapasada na nang hindi nagbabayad ng “ dues” sa TODA.

Ang prangkisa para mag-operate ng public utility vehicle ay isang pribilehiyo na binibigay ng Estado, o ng LGU kung tricycle, ayon sa Local Government Code. Hindi pwedeng binebenta lang ang prangkisa na parang litsong manok o milk tea. May mga tao din na binebenta ng higit sa isa ang unit.

Marahil kailangan mapag-aralan kung kailangan nang tularan ng mga LGU ang Memorandum Circular ng LTFRB na ipinagbawal na ang ‘sale and transfer’ ng public utility vehicle. Dapat kung ayaw na ng operator na bumyahe ay dapat at tama lang na ibalik ang prangkisa sa LGU o sa gobyerno.

DOJ Sec. Guevarra nirerespeto ang privacy sa nagbitiw na si Perete

NIRERESPETO ni Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra ang hiling privacy ni DOJ spokesperson Undersecretary Markk Perete ng ito ay nagbitiw.

Sinabi nito na isinumite niya mismo kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang kaniyang resignation dahil sa siya ay Presidential appointees.

Ayon sa kalihim na naging personal ang rason ni Perete sa kaniyang pagbibitiw na kaniyang nirerespeto. Taong 2018 ng italaga bilang tagapagsalita ng DOJ si Perete na siya rin ay technical assitant sa Office of the President na may rangkong assistant secretary for legal affairs.

478K OFWs apektado ng pandemya – DOLE

PUMALO na sa mahigit 478,000 ang overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) na naapektuhan ng pandemya, ayon sa ulat.

Tinatayang 229,000 OFWs naman na ang napauwi buhat nitong October 1, batay kay Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.

Paliwanag ni Bello, kapag may humingi ng tulong na OFWs ay hindi na nila ito tinatanong pa kung ito ay documented o undocumented OFWs.

Ang panukalang budget para sa 2021 ay nilaanan ng P7.39 bilyon para sa Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), attached agency ng DOLE upang pondohan ang tulong para sa mga lumikas na mga OFW sa gitna ng pandemya.

P540B bagong utang ng gobyerno aprub sa BSP

INAPRUBAHAN na ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ang panibagong utang ng gobyerno na nagkakahalaga ng P540 bilyon para mapunan ang pangangailangan bunsod ng coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.

Ayon kay BSP Governor Ben- jamin Diokno, ngayong Huwebes lang inaprubahan BSP ang kahilingang P540 bilyon para sa panibagong tranche ng provisional advances ng pamahalaan.

Ipinaliwanag ni Diokno na ginawa ng administrasyon ang panibagong loan bilang “budget support” at “deficit financing” bunsod ng naranasang pandemic sa bansa.

Matatandaan na nangutang sa gobyerno ang Central Bank ng halagang P300 bilyon noong Marso sa porma ng securities.

Batay sa rekord ng Bureau of Treasury, pumapatay sa P9.615 trilyon ang utang ng gobyerno hanggang noong katapusan ng Agosto na 21.1% mas mataas sa katulad na petsa noong nakaraang taon. (Ara Romero)
